Eau de Paris, a few years ago aready, began its way down this route, accompanying the deveopment of organic farming and the sustaining of meadow-and in the water-suppy capture territories and areas. Working as partners to the farming word, it contributes to more responsibe management of water, the natura resource that we a consider to be our common asset. Our pubic company is dedicated to reducing the ecoogica footprint generated by a our water production and distribution activities by an ambitious cimate-energy pan. The pan aso invoves encouraging the use of tap water which is cheaper and more ecoogica, and by making pubic drinking water fountains accessibe to everybody, to ensure more sustainabe and a-encompassing ife. This water is avaiabe at home, at the pace of work and eisure, or in pubic spaces through 1200 drinking fountains; tap water is more ecoogica and economica, representing the idea of what a sustainabe consumption product can be. Drinking tap water is a way to reduce waste at the root and to avoid the use of pointess packaging which eimination weighs so heaviy on the carbon footprint. It is aso a way to make savings, thanks to water s ow cost. Eau de Paris encourages responsibe consumption: promoting the vaue of tap water in schoos and among the young, targeting actions on the ess we-off, suppying of water during major cutura and sporting events These are a opportunities of proving that tap water is a natura everyday resource for peope wishing to consume responsiby. To accompany tap water consumption at the home, at work or in the street, Eau de Paris has designed a range of fasks, jugs and bottes that are attractive, practica and ecoogica. 4 Resource protection, acting ahead The protection of underground and river water improves the quaity of water resources but aso preserves the common natura heritage and the andscape. Farming has an untod impact on aquatic media in terms of resources quaity and quantity, but aso biodiversity. Cimate change, which coud ead to more intense and frequent periods of drought, is an aggravating factor for the future of our water resources. Out of the 240,000 hectares of water suppy and catchment areas it manages, in the east and west of the Paris basin, Eau de Paris is heping redirecting farming methods toward a more sustainabe and virtuous mode, buiding partnerships with the farmers. This is a medium and ong term project, essentia not ony to protect water quaity but aso to anticipate and adapt to cimate change. It is a win-win approach: not ony does it enabe Eau de Paris to improve the quaity of the caught water and eventuay reduce its cost and the environmenta impact of its treatment, but it aso supports the conversion of farms toward methods more respectfu of the natura environment and producing higher quaity produce. In the fied, in concrete terms, Eau de Paris purchases farmand pots and makes them avaiabe to farmers by means of rura environmenta eases. This aso eads to actions encouraging organic farming methods or farming with ow chemica inputs, working hand-in-hand with the oca stakehoders and the Basin Agency. Eau de Paris aso works with oca industries and communities to improve river water quaity. However, ike any industria activity, water production and distribution have an impact on the environment. That is what prompted Eau de Paris to sign in October 2014, with the city of Paris, the Paris Action Cimate partnership charter and draw up a cimate-energy pan with goas operationa by First of a, the company s carbon footprint has to be reduced. Eventuay, Eau de Paris intends to use 100% green eectricity for its industria processes. A the other vectors of energy consumption, ike transportation and buidings, are aso concerned. With the stakehoders operating in the Paris and Metropoitan areas, Eau de Paris is committed to mobiise the advantages that water resources represent to produce renewabe energy. There is enormous potentia, whether in the fied of geotherma techniques or for buiding air conditioning systems. Commitments - reducing greenhouse gas emissions, - reducing energy consumption, - increase the share of renewabes in tota energy consumption - Eau de Paris, a key payer in the territory: to avoid CO2 emissions through renewabe energies production, thanks to water heritage assets.

The system, unique in terms of its scae and age, enabing the city to adapt water quaity to its uses and needs: a drinking water network for human consumption and a non-drinking water network for urban services (watering parks and gardens, ceaning streets and drains etc.) and industria uses consuming great amounts of water such as aundries or ceaning companies. The non-potabe water system is suppied from the Ourcq cana and the Seine. It is a precious too to cope with cimate change, aowing restrained and rationa use of the resources. Eau de Paris maintains and deveops it. The use of non-drinking water is part of the action pan to adapt to cimate change in Paris and coud be particuary vauabe for cooing the city, for instance during heat waves. Experiments have actuay proved the ecoogica and energy potentia of the network, especiay for buiding heating and air conditioning. In these times of cimate change fight and of the need to preserve the natura resources, the non-drinking water network, a heritage conceaed under the cobbestones of the city, is an inestimabe advantage for Paris.

As the soe contact for users and subscribers, Eau de Paris is in charge of the entire water circuit, from the catchment to the tap of consumers.
