5 COMM5030 Social Entrepreneurship Practicum Social entrepreneurs (intrapreneurs): use business thinking to develop business models aimed at creating positive social outcomes to reach people in need. draw upon business processes, including technological innovation, entrepreneurial skills and market distributive mechanisms to address unmet social need. Social impact: the net effect of an activity on a community and the well- being of individuals and families (CSI). Hybridity: the coming together of business, government, and not- for- profits

6 COMM5030 Social Entrepreneurship Practicum Provides students with the opportunity to: Learn about social entrepreneurship - > innovation - > enterprise/business; social impact design; outcomes & impact performance indicators; impact investment Gain practical business experience by applying their business skills and knowledge within a social entrepreneurship context Each practicum experience will be different depending on the particular project on which each student will work. Student will work directly with social entrepreneurs on their projects. Blended, flexible learning approach with allocated group time

7 COMM5030 Social Entrepreneurship Practicum An elective in the following Master of Commerce specialisations: ACCOUNTING: Management Accounting MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Innovation & Entrepreneurship An alternative capstone for the Master of Commerce To be taken in the final semester of the program in place of the nominated capstone of the main specialisation.
