2 Position overview The Research and Evaluation Project Officer will develop, implement, manage and communicate research and evaluation projects within, and on behalf of, the Neami Group (Neami National and MeWell). Tasks will relate to the design and planning of research and evaluation proposals, literature review, method development, recruitment, data collection and management, data analysis, interpretation, and dissemination. The Research and Evaluation Project Officer will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and partners to contribute to high quality research and evaluation outcomes. Period of employment Maximum Term Contract 3 years; subject to a 3-month probationary period. Accountability The Research and Evaluation Project Officer is accountable to the Senior Manager of Research and Evaluation. Conditions of employment The terms and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Neami National Employment Agreement CSS Level 4 from $73,169 - $78,976 per annum depending on skills and experience depending on experience. Core requirements prior to any offer, or commencement of employment: Criminal record checks are mandatory for all new appointments. Neami National will cover the cost of an Australian police check. Where a new employee has lived outside of Australia for 12 months or more within the last 10 years, the cost of an International check will be borne by the applicant (~$142.00). You must maintain a right to work in Australia, in the position and location of employment during your employment with Neami. 4 Section C: key responsibilities Planning, implementation and communication of research and evaluation projects Develop research/evaluation proposals in consultation with other researchers and stakeholders Develop ethics applications, amendments and annual reports for Human Research ethics Committees Review and synthesis of literature Plan, coordinate and action participant recruitment Data collection and analysis o Survey development and implementation o Conduct research interviews and focus groups o Undertake data analysis using statistical software programs, e.g. SPSS o Generate tables, figures and reports o Support and supervise research assistants o Maintain the integrity and security of research databases o Contribute to analysis of qualitative data Produce research reports in various formats e.g. summaries, reports, journal manuscripts Prepare and present conference presentations Ensure research is conducted in accordance with the National Statement of Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2007 (updated 2015) and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research 2007 Project management Generate project plans Manage research projects in line with project plans Coordinate project meetings ensuring timely communication with all stakeholders Provide progress reports according to plan schedule Participate in the Research and Evaluation team Independently manage own work plan, ensuring timely task completion Report progress with work plan to Senior Manager Research and Evaluation or delegate Actively contribute to the functioning of the team, to team meetings, and as a delegate of the team on internal and external projects/committees. Actively engage in practice development sessions with supervisor and team reflective practice sessions. 4 of 7

The following competency criteria will inform our selection decision: Adhering to principles and values Demonstrates commitment to following study procedures in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research Demonstrates integrity and fosters effective communication Demonstrates commitment to the organisation and its values Demonstrates diplomacy/discretion in the conduct of research tasks Research conduct Hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Health Science, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, with a significant research component Manages and analyses large data sets of quantitative and qualitative data Experience in statistical data analysis Experience and proficiency in use of analytic software e.g. SPSS, NVivo Experience in the preparation of research and evaluation reports Collaboratively designs effective and efficient research processes by analysing requirements and engaging others Implements and manages appropriate systems and processes to maintain the quality and integrity of data Relating to people & building connections Listens, consults others and communicates proactively Establishes positive working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation and external stakeholders Establishes respectful professional relationships that have clear boundaries Expresses opinions, information and key points clearly Contributes to effective functioning of the team 5 of 7

7 About Neami National Neami National is a community mental health service supporting people living with mental illness to improve their health, live independently and pursue a life based on their own strengths, values and goals. We were founded in 1986 by a group of concerned residents wanting to support people in their local community. We also incorporate the Optimal Health Program from St Vincent s Frameworks for Health, our own Physical Health Prompt and other complementary tools and approaches as needed. 2. Learning and innovation We have grown and developed a lot in the last three years, with a doubling of the number of people we support and in the staff who support them. This growth and development can be directly attributed to the quality of our services and the culture of learning and innovation that drives us as an organisation.
