To take overall responsibility for the operation of the company and thus ensuring that the CEO is able to devote the majority of his time and effort on matters of strategy Also to lead the development of PPL s ability to optimise the life-cycle value of and to ensure that its core people, process and plant assets have and maintain the capability needed to meet its business needs Who do I report to? 3 How much authority do I have? You ll have an operating budget of approximately K? within which you may spend amounts up to K? without additional approval You will identify, justify and recommend recruitment and dismissal of direct report staff additions and reductions to staff allocation must be approved by the CEO You will identify staff performance issues and implement remedial actions How will I know when I m doing a good job? PPL s plant reliability and availability trend indicators will show significant improvement PPL will be recognised as a leader in the field of Asset management practice and performance Your managers will take on personal accountability for their areas and demonstrate a sense of urgency when dealing with critical business issues. They will ensure that their areas have and maintain the competencies needed to effectively match asset capability to business needs Achievement of your personal objectives There ll be no breaches of compliance requirements There will be operational plans in place, followed and regularly reported on that cover management of risk, finances, staffing, and processes within the Asset Management Directorate Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities The following table highlights this position s key responsibilities and accountabilities, it is not an exhaustive list however and the position holder can expect to be engaged in other activities where they can add valued to PPL and for which they are competent. You are responsible for the following activities Strategic Asset Management Planning Tactical Asset Management Planning Development Programme Planning Project Delivery You are accountable for how well the following deliverables are achieved Tactical and Operational level contribution made to the development of high level strategies for bridging the gaps between current asset capability and that needed by the business Asset management plans describe 12 to 18 month asset; development, production and maintenance tactics for each of PPL s power facilities The process for approving projects is rigorous and ensures PPL is able to minimise its exposure to risk and optimise the returns on investment PPL core asset projects and their resources prioritised focused on areas of greatest value creation Core asset projects achieve their objectives safely, on time and within budget JD Chief Operating Officer 2016 Page 3 of 7

4 You are responsible for the following activities Production Programme Planning Production Delivery Maintenance Programme Planning Maintenance Delivery Reliability Engineering Inventory Management Consent and compliance Management Asset Information Management Team Management Relationship Management You are accountable for how well the following deliverables are achieved The optimum mix and sequencing of energy production over the next 12 to 18 months is determined and contained within a production programme PPL s energy products and services are delivered safely and to required standards Maintenance tactics, policies and philosophies are translated into planned arrangements for deploying maintenance effort and contained within a 12 to 18 month maintenance programme PPL s plant is maintained safely and in accordance with the direction provided in the maintenance programme Tactics for continuously improving the reliability and availability of plant assets are developed and used to drive PPL s asset development and maintenance programmes The condition and availability of core asset inventory is commensurate with the needs of the business PPL retains a license to operate and to obtain, maintain, and enhance access to natural fuel resources by being recognised and trusted as a responsible operator and user of resources PPL has ready access to the information that is needed make reliable informed decisions and complies with legislative requirements The Asset Management Directorate s resources are commensurate with the needs of the business and comply with both company and legislative requirements. Members of the Asset Management Directorate know and understand the strategic direction of PPL and their respective roles and responsibilities, including acceptable behaviours and standards of performance expected of them. PPL is recognised as a leader in the field of Asset management practice and performance within PNG Positive and constructive relationships are established and maintained with fellow members of the PPL Team. Members of the wider PPL Team and relevant functional Divisions are appropriately involved in and kept informed of the Asset Management Directorate s activities and matters affecting their areas of responsibility. 6 Ideal Person Profile Minimum Qualifications This is an executive management position expected to assume overall operational management responsibilities for one of Papua New Guinea s largest companies. As such the position holder is expected to hold at least a post graduate level commercial qualification that covers business; administration, human resources, law, finance, risk and operations. It is also expected that the incumbent will hold the following technical qualifications: A post graduate commercial degree A professional Engineering degree Minimum Experience The position holder must be able to demonstrate a successful track record in a general management position within the power industry. Ideally the successful applicant for this position will have significant formal asset management experience. Specifically the position holder should have sufficient experience and be able to demonstrate success in the following areas: Organisation turnaround in terms of culture and performance Addressing reliability and availability issues Introducing new concepts and methods of working Critical Skill Requirements The ideal person for this position is expected to have above average ability in the following key areas Leadership...
