Page 4 Total Health as KP s Strategic Foundation As KP develops strategies further and continues its influence externally, how do we deepen total health? Vision 2025 We are trusted partners in total health, collaborating with people to help them thrive creating communities that are among the healthiest in the nation, and inspiring greater health for America and the world.
Many Factors Shape Health Health is driven by multiple factors that are intricately linked of which medical care is one component. Drivers of Health Medical Care 10% Environmental and Social Factors 20% Family History and Genetics 30% Personal Behaviors 40% Source: Determinants of Health and Their Contribution to Premature Death, JAMA 1993 Page 5

Executing Our Total Health Agenda We launched an approach to implementing Total Health around a coordinated set of activities, focusing on some key initial areas while developing core capabilities and enhancing efforts on work underway. Total Health Signature Initiatives Core Capabilities Fundamentals Total Health Impact Focus as first and relatively complete demonstrations of Total Health, done everywhere in KP Essential components needed to realize Total Health Intentional deployment of all KP business resources and activities for social, economic and environmental impact. Thriving Schools Workforce Wellness Behavior Change Social, Economic, Behavioral Needs Community Health Initiatives Mental Health and Well Being Regional/geographically-based solutions National Functions solutions Effective Impact Measurement (to shape investments and actions) and Internal and External Communications (to align organizational messages that engage all our stakeholders) Page 11
Page 12 Total Health Impact Goal Applying all KP s resources to improve member and community health. Each region and core national function will be increasingly accountable for, and effective in, using all our assets to deliver measurable impacts on member and population health status. Improved health will address the preventable demand-side drivers of utilization and cost, therefore contributing to long-term affordability. More than Corporate Social Responsibility and more than being an anchor institution, being a Total Health Organization helps us be the pacesetting leader in the field of improving health and creating social value. ALL IN = Care + Coverage + Community + Enterprise
Page 13 Understanding All KP Assets for Health We can look at many of our activities in key functional areas to understand the economic, environmental and social impacts. IMPACTS: Economic Social Environmental
Page 14 The result of looking at our activities shows KP with a major positive footprint in the world -- but our negative footprint is not insignificant Positive Footprint $122B Based on 2014: $21B of purchasing expenditure $1.3B construction spend 189k employees $71B of investment assets ~900k patients treated under Medicaid, CHIP and Charitable Care -$9B Negative Footprint
Page 15 Going Deeper: Critical Strategic Questions for KP How much of our footprint is really unique to us? How can we continue to lead and inspire others? What is within our sphere of influence? What levers create the greatest change at lowest cost?
Page 16 Connecting Functional and Regional Strategies We need to deepen connection of KP functional areas with regional initiatives to drive impact at scale. Northern California - Thriving Schools - Workforce Wellness - Healthiest City - Anchors for Resilient Communities Southern California - Thriving Schools - Workforce Wellness - CULTIVATE Northwest - Thriving Schools - Workforce Wellness - BUILD - Oregon Healthiest State Mid-Atlantic States - Thriving Schools - Workforce Wellness - Baltimore Expansion - Prince George s - DC Central Kitchens Hawaii - Thriving Schools - Workforce Wellness - Frail/Elderly initiative Colorado - Thriving Schools - Workforce Wellness - Hunger Screening Georgia - Thriving Schools - Workforce Wellness - Atlanta Beltline
