The EverBank Essentials of Management Program will give you the core skills you need to succeed as a supervisor or manager at EverBank. Develop your managerial perspectives Enhance your business acumen Sharpen your ability to tackle management challenges You will gain the practical basic management expertise you need and the confidence you want to plan, organize, coach, motivate, delegate, and communicate in order to be an effective supervisor or manager. The EverBank Essentials of Management Program will help guide you through the changes and challenges you encounter as a supervisor or manager and provide you with valuable management and business knowledge to use throughout your career at EverBank. You will learn successful leadership practices used in managing both operational activities and individual employees to achieve organizational objectives, and develop a broad understanding of current managerial techniques, with special emphasis on working with people as the key to managerial success. The program design is based on content identified by internal needs assessments, surveys, external best practices, and aligned with the EverBank Manager Accountability competency model. Both highly interactive and dynamic, this program will give you the opportunity to explore and develop your strengths and improve your effectiveness as a supervisor or manager at EverBank. The program is designed for supervisors and managers who have one to seven years of management experience. Learn how to adjust your management style, create an atmosphere where motivation flourishes, use coaching as a tool to improve performance and job satisfaction, and communicate more effectively. You will learn the basics of EverBank s financials and financial acumen, and how to translate this information to your employees in a meaningful way. The program is structured to deliver valuable knowledge in an integrated format. You will be introduced to concepts in each session, encouraged to apply them back at work, and then revisit them in the following session to discuss successes, challenges, and share peer-to-peer experiences. Coursework to enhance the transfer of learning will be assigned between sessions. Learning & Development will provide tools for you and your manager after each session, to encourage follow-up conversations on how you can apply what you learned to your specific office environment. Program Objectives: You will learn how to: Gain a deeper understanding of your role and responsibilities as an EverBank supervisor or manager Use the Manager Accountability competency model to develop yourself and your employees Develop an individual development plan (IDP) for yourself and facilitate this process with your employees Use assessment tools to learn how your leadership and behavior styles impact your effectiveness Set clear and strategically aligned goals Hold productive conversations with just about anyone, about just about anything Effectively communicate expectations to your team and direct reports Adapt your leadership style to meet the needs of individual team members Use effective coaching techniques to increase teamwork and maximize your team s performance Understand the EverBank business model and our diverse lines of business Scope and manage projects Create a cost/benefit analysis Create and deliver presentations Manage time, meetings, and delegation more effectively Create behavioral interview questions and templates Maximize internal best practices by meeting successful EverBank managers who will share their experience
3 Program Overview: Kick Off Lunch and Learn: March 3 Participants and their managers will attend a special Lunch and Learn session two weeks before the first session to begin the goal setting process that will define their success in the program. During this session, participants obtain their materials and receive an overview of program expectations. Session One: March 17 Your Role at EverBank Learn what makes EverBank unique Learn what is expected of you as a supervisor or manager and a steward of the company Learn best practices in managing human capital and how these practices are applied at EverBank Transitioning to Management Learn the process of moving from peer to supervisor or manager, what your new responsibilities are, and the expectations of your boss, peers, and former colleagues Learn how to manage former peers and colleagues, differentiating between your responsibilities and those of your direct reports Self Management and Emotional Intelligence - WorkPlace Big 5 and Leadership Gain insight into your personal Five-Factor Model assessment results Conduct an in-depth examination of personality [traits] and motivation drivers Understand how to apply various leadership models Understand a typical leader profile and strategies to achieve success. 5 Program Facilitators: The EverBank Essentials of Management Program facilitators are EverBank employees who have direct experience in a particular subject matter, competency, and/or skill. The following EverBank employees will be facilitating the program. Steven Borowiec is the learning and development manager in EverBank s Learning & Development Department in Human Resources. Steve has a bachelor s and master s degree from University of North Florida and more than 15 years of experience in workplace learning and performance management/improvement. Most of his career was with University of North Florida where he held various positions including director and interim dean of the Division of Continuing Education. He is an active member of the American Society for Training & Development and has been appointed to numerous national committees; he is currently on the International Conference & Exposition Program Advisory Committee. Steve s expertise is in identifying, developing, and executing learning and development solutions that support strategic business initiatives that maximize the financial return on human capital investments. Eric Brochu is the backshop technology operations manager at EverBank. In this capacity, Eric oversees Final Documents, The Image Center, Legal Review, Internal Suspense, Investor Suspense, and Technology Initiatives for the Backshop. Eric joined EverBank in 2004 after 14 years with Digital Federal Credit Union in Northborough, MA. His areas of expertise include performance management, leadership development, business process improvement, project management, and product and application development. Susan Burns heads the retail banking division of EverBank s community bank, including the four financial centers, formerly known as branches. Her responsibilities include managing deposit growth as well as contributing to the bottom line. After graduating from Vanderbilt with a bachelor s degree in business administration, Susan spent more than 20 years in banking including branch management, marketing, and sales management. Most of her career was with Bank of America, formerly Barnett Bank, and NationsBank. She also spent seven years as an entrepreneur, owning two local franchised UPS stores. Her areas of expertise include mentoring, training, and coaching employees. she was an accounting manager for the Equicredit Division at Barnett Bank. She has a bachelor s degree in both accounting and business administration from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee and has been in the banking and accounting industry for 15 years. Tina s expertise is in general accounting and operations. She was EverBank s employee of the year in Terri Hendrix is the corporate risk manager in EverBank s Corporate Risk Management Department and joined the company in She has been involved in the banking industry since 1984 and was previously employed at Wachovia where she served as a vice president and audit manager. Terri currently is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and has a bachelor s degree in business administration from the College of Charleston. She also graduated from the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Sheila Langley is vice president, EEO, and employee relations manager at EverBank. During many of her 11 years at EverBank, she was also responsible for the recruitment and human resources training functions. She has an undergraduate degree in business communications, a master s degree in human resources management, and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Society for Human Resource Management. She began her career in human resources 16 years ago as training manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, after her first career in convention sales. Her areas of expertise are employee relations, employment law, behavioral-based interviewing, and helping managers and employees work through difficult work-related issues. Paul McFadden works in employee relations in EverBank s Human Resources Department. A graduate in management from Clemson University, Paul worked at Bank of America for four years. While at Bank of America, Paul was a supervisor in Transaction Services Operations before joining their Human Resources Department in recruiting and outplacement services. He joined the EverBank Human Resources Department in 2004 as an HR generalist. Paul s expertise includes best hiring practices, labor relations, and other general human resources processes and procedures. Tina Cowart-Carroll is the divisional controller in EverBank s Accounting Department and joined the company in Before joining EverBank, Learn and practice adapting your leadership style to different situations and employees with different developmental needs
6 Program Facilitators Continued: Elizabeth (Liz) Perez is the talent acquisition manager and business partner in EverBank s Human Resources Department. After graduating from the University of North Florida with a bachelor s degree in logistics and economics, Liz worked for Johns & Associates and Website Pros. She obtained a Professional of Human Resources (PHR) designation from the Society for Human Resource Management and worked as a human resources consultant Liz s expertise is in talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits design and implementation, and compliance training. Suzanne Tasker is the leadership development program manager in EverBank s Learning & Development Department in Human Resources. Suzanne has been in workplace development for more than 15 years. Before EverBank, she created and facilitated training programs for State Farm, Planned Parenthood of Mid-Central Illinois, and Weight Watchers. She has managed a training department, created annual training plans, managed vendor relationships, and has provided performance consulting services. She is certified to facilitate the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Crucial Conversations, and the WorkPlace Big 5. She has a business management degree from the University of Phoenix and is a member of the American Society for Training & Development. Her expertise is in creating, facilitating, and working with managers to create and determine value-added learning opportunities. Barbara Turley is the manager of performance management in EverBank s Learning & Development Department in Human Resources. She has more than 20 years of experience in performance management, organizational development, organizational communications, and human resource development. She is experienced in executive coaching, corporate startups and turnarounds, facilitation, change management, and progressive culture development. Barbara was a member of the start-up team of AT&T American Transtech, now known as Convergys, and spent 11 years with them. Before joining AT&T, she spent nine years with Jacksonville National Bank and The Charter Company. Most recently, she worked for the University of North Florida Division of Continuing Education, during which time she served as director of their Professional Development Institute. Barbara earned her M.B.A. from Jacksonville University. The EverBank Essentials of Management Program Information Who Should Attend: Supervisors and managers with one to seven years of experience. Schedule: This program consists of a series of eight full-day sessions: March 17, April 21, May 19, June 16, July 21, August 18, September 15, and October 20. Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Location: EverBank, 8100 Nations Way, Jacksonville, FL Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided during each session. Lunch sessions include special guest speakers or activities. Travel Expenses: Your cost center must cover any travel expenses related to this program.
