List of current and completed academic units 6. Complete the WIL Application form 7. Collate and submit application documents. Please start preparing your application in sufficient time to ensure it can be submitted by the closing date. Please carefully read (and follow) each step as per the sections below. STEP 1. ENSURE YOU HAVE SPACE IN YOUR COURSE Prior to starting the application process, please visit the Course Information Hub (CIH). These are located in each campus as follows: Building 18, Joondalup Campus Building 13, Mount Lawley Building 1, South West Campus. CIH will provide you with two documents that you will need to include with your application: i. an up to date Course Planner, and ii. a WIL Check List (there is a blank form in Appendix A ) These documents are required to confirm that you have space in your course to participate in a WIL program. Please ensure you have BOTH these documents as they are required as part of your application Page 2 of 9
3 STEP 2. RESUME PREPARATION AND REVIEW If you are accepted onto a WIL Program your resume will be sent to potential host employers. This will be their first impression of you and it is essential that your resume is of a high standard. Draft your resume Please use the following WIL Resume Checklist to draft your resume. WIL Resume Check List Is your career objective tailored for host employers who are considering you for a work placement or internship? Are your contact details (phone, , LinkedIn profile) all up to date? Have you removed any details that are not required (eg, date of birth, marital status)? Is your Resume limited to 2 or 3 pages? Have you removed contact details for your references and inserted references available on request? Does your Resume look professional clean, clear with consistent font type and size, well-spaced with no spelling or grammatical errors? Have your resume reviewed by a Careers Advisor Our Careers Advisors will be present in Joondalup Campus, Building 2, Level 3 (West), Room on the following dates: Monday, 12 th March 2018 Wednesday, 21 st March 2018 Monday, 26 th March 2018 Wednesday, 4 th April pm to 2.30pm 10.00am to 11.30am 11.30am to 1.00pm 2.00pm to 3.30pm We strongly encourage you to attend one of the drop-in session for a review of your Resume. Please outline what your ideal placement/internship would be in terms of industry, organisation size and sector (i.e. government/private/public/not-for-profit). Please also state any particular areas of your discipline in which you are most interested in gaining experience (there are some examples below to help for most discipline areas). It is absolutely fine to not have strong preferences at this stage, please state this if this is the case. If you have a WAM of less than 65, you may still apply but are required to outline - in your Personal Statement - any specific reasons why your WAM is not at 65 or above. Page 4 of 9
