2 SAE LCLS Life Cycle Logistics Support is a SAE Committee within the System s Management Council Scope The LCLS committee is responsible for developing, maintaining and evolving standards, coalescing industry positions and promoting the dissemination of best practices on logistics and supportability of products and systems. The committee is responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of product support analysis and logistics product data standards and handbooks listed as the committee s Program of Work. Purpose The LCLS committee serves as an industry focal point for life cycle logistics and supportability through the application of solid product support analysis principles. The committee s goal is to promote the standardization of processes and information for product support analysis.

3 LCLS Program of Work At a minimum, the LCLS committee is responsible for the following documents: SAE TASTD0017 Product Support Analysis SAE GEIASTD0007 Logistics Product Data SAE GEIAHB0007 Guide to Logistics Product Data SAE TAHB Logistics Product Data Reports SAE AS1390 Level of Repair Analysis

4 PSA & LPD SAE TA-STD-0017 Defines Product Support Analysis Specifies Activities that can be contracted as work Equivalent to MIL-STD-1388-A SAE GEIA-STD-0007 Defines Logistics Product Data Is a data transfer standard xml entity structures Based on MIL-STD B, but not a data model definition SAE GEIA-STD SAE TA-STD OmegaPS LSAR Is compliant with SAE GEIA-STD-0007because it creates and reads the compliant xml transfer file for LPD.

5 We Need a LORA Standard Level of Repair Analysis is a method of analysis that should follow a standard approach Best when internationally accepted MIL-STD-1390D is cancelled Was usually called up in contracts It detailed a contracting program for LORA Included annexes for DoD model definitions Replaced by SAE AS1390 issued April 2014

6 SAE AS1390 Scope Establishes general requirements and descriptions of specific activities for performance of LORA during the life cycle of products or equipment. When these requirements and activities are performed in a logical and iterative nature, they comprise the LORA process. Rationale This standard provides a standardized approach for implementing and conducting the Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) activities required by the SAE standard TA-STD-0017 to determine an effective maintenance and support structure for a product. This document provides general requirements and descriptions of activities which, when performed in a logical and iterative nature, comprise the LORA process. These requirements are structured for maximum flexibility in their application.

12 Additive Manufacturing Evaluate below proposal from ANSI AMSC Gap M2: Using AM to Print Tools. Current standards may not consider the variety of materials that can be used to create tools using additive manufacturing. Recommendation: Also update SAE AS1390:2014, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), to include trade space of repairs including on AM. Trade space would address reduction of time and increase in skill set (e.g., for qualified printer operators). Gap M3: AM Level of Repair Analysis. Standards for AM LORA are needed. In performing a repair versus discard analysis, the use of AM can change the LORA decision due to shifts in factors relating to logistics delay time, spares availability, cost of spares, etc. Recommendation: Update SAE AS1390:2014 to address AM LORA.
