1 Glossary of Frequently Used Acronyms and Common Language ACR ASN Backroom/Wareroom Bakery DSS Basic Stock Blocking Category CCOM CIM Clip Strips Closed Dated Product CMIS Advanced Cash Register These are the terminals located on the front end. Advance Shipping Notice This is the store s invoice for items shipped and billed to them. The storage and receiving area in the back of the store. Support system that shows items related to bakery such as production, sales, and pulls. Items normally carried in the department. A recovery method in which product is pushed to the back of the shelf or is pulled to the front lip if product is located on the top or bottom shelves. The term used for a section of product that is merchandised together and similar qualities. Central Check out Operations Manager A new management position created to be in charge of the Service department. Central Inventory Manager This is the group who centrally manages and oversees inventory control over the store. A means of cross merchandising products by attaching a strip to the shelf molding and hanging product from it. Product that has an expiration date that is noted by a manufacture s code. A vendor/sales representative should rotate this product Category Management Information Systems - Shows sales, gross profit, and purchase information for the store.

Center Store the new mapping area used to define all items in the center area of the store. Change the Business Change the business is the organization in H-E-B committed to developing improved processes and better technology that will help Partners focus on great customer service. Support system that shows items related to deli such as production, sales, and pulls. Display on Line this is an online system that allows a store partner to see products for displays. Shipment of goods generally shipped through warehouses/manufacturers to a store. Direct Store Delivery any product not shipped from the warehouse. Brought in directly form a vendor. Decisions Support Systems Systems that include Bakery DSS, Deli DSS, CMIS, MCS, and Shrinker. Electronic Article Surveillance a loss prevention devise used to detect un-scanned merchandise leaving the store. Fixture placed at the end of a gondola aisle. Also called an End Display A report printed to show breakdowns of specific items within an order and is used to ensure accuracy of the order billed and shipped to the store. This report will show: discontinued items from the warehouse, shorted items from the warehouse, substituted items, high dollar items, and prorated items.

Graphic User Interface the computer system we use to view SRS reports and order review. Hill Country Fare HEB s own generic brand of products. Howard Edward Butt private label merchandise sold under the Hill Country Fare, HEB Own Brand, and Personal Expressions Label. Implementation Manager In charge of the Implementation team and the rollout of SRS stores in his/her region. Information Management Solutions This is the computer software H-E-B uses to access applications such as: /for stro, /for empl, /for price, /for iris, etc A wire clip on a hook that attaches to the front edge of the grocery shelf. Used to display high impulse merchandise. Market Control System shows information related to Market sales, production, and shrink.
4 MIC MSDS ODS OJT OOS Open Dated Product Pallet PDP PIC PLU POG Power Panel Manager In Charge This manager is store management and generally works under the Store Director or Asst. Store Director. Material Safety Data Sheets A sheet giving instructions on proper handling of chemicals used in our store in case of accidental spills or injuries. Order and Delivery Schedule This is the schedule that shipments to the store follow. On the Job Training Training done at the store level in addition to centralized training. Out of Stock Any item that has no inventory in the store Product that has an expiration date noted by day/month/year. A standard sized platform used for stacking product cases for storage, handling, or transportation of product. May be made of wood or plastic. Planned Display Program This is the guide given to the stores to ensure Display compliance. Company s pay HEB to display their product. Perpetual Inventory Controller This position is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the store replenishment system. Product Look Up a code used to identify non-upc items. Some PLU s (ie: product) are universal others are not (ie: donuts). Plan-O-Gram How we plan to merchandise and utilize space in the store. A plan is written for each commodity and is store specific. A display fixture that attached to one side of the End Cap.
5 Processing Proration PSA Push Items RC RCC Recovery RGC Returns Riser Rotation preparing the load for stocking. This includes breaking down the pallets and spotting the cases in front of the corresponding product on the shelves. Merchandise that is purchased by a Category Manager (Buyer) and sent automatically to the store. Product Shelf Assignment gives items in the store a location or a location and capacity. Push items are used to increase profits throughout H-E-B. It is generally an item H-E-B received as a special buy or has a high gross. Receiving Controller the partner in charge of the wareroom/backroom and all products delivered to the store. Also referred to as receivers. Retail Communication Controller a new position that has taken over the scan coordinator position and is responsible for the PSA map of the store excluding displays. Daily process of straightening items on the shelf and returning them to their proper location Return Good Center is a clearinghouse for damaged product. Merchandise is sent from the store to the RGC for processing when it can t be sold at store level. Unsold, damaged or defective merchandise left by customers and needs to be returned to the proper location An additional shelf on the top of the gondola used for storing extra product, usually backstock. The task of moving products forward on the shelves and restocking newer dated product to the back so that the closer dates sell first.
6 SD Seasonal Merchandise Shelf Extenders Shrink Shrinker SKU Slim List SLT SOP Spotting SPPH SRS Store Director the Store Director works under the Unit Director in stores with an UD. In a store without an UD, the SD is the top leader of the store and is in charge of the total store and its overall conditions. Merchandise that is in heavy demand during certain seasons of the year. Merchandise sent to the store specific to certain holidays, not available year-round Basket rack or tray like fixture that attaches to the front of grocery shelving. Loss of inventory due to spoilage, damage, markdowns, or theft. Decision Support System that shows shrink indicators for the store. Stock Keeping Unit generally associated as the same as UPC. Items that will sell out between trucks. Additional product should be placed on the riser to refill the shelf as needed. Senior Leadership Team The senior leadership team consists of VP level partners. Standard Operating Procedures The standardized guide used by departments to ensure company standards. Placing product on the floor in front of the corresponding shelf stock. Sales Per Payroll Hour HEB s method of measurement for ensuring great productivity. Store Replenishment System is an automated replenishment system that orders product based on the store perpetual inventory, forecasting information, and scan movement of items at Point of Sale.
7 UD UOH UPC Warehouse Deliveries Waves WIS Unit Director The top leader of the store. The UD is in charge of the total store and its overall conditions. Units on Hand The number of units that SRS thinks is available for sale in the store. Universal Product Code this is the bar code we use to scan items, it is found on all products and identifies the item. Deliveries of product from an HEB owned warehouse and delivered by an HEB truck. Delivery of seasonal product that has been broken up to come on different days or weeks instead of all at once. Washington Inventory Service this is the company HEB uses to do store inventories.
