21 Tunnel Team Tunnel building methods NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method) Example of excavation in a tunnel under dry condition in soil by scraper and support of bolts and anchors in rockface The immediate outer lining is done by shotcrete and steel girder The average range of progress in these conditions is 3-5m a day depending on size of tunnel 21
