2 SPF2008 Domains Data Segregation Domain technology allows multiple disciplines to concurrently work on shared engineering data. Each disciplines view of the truth is different and naturally inconsistent. Arbitrarily enforcing consistency across an engineering enterprise is not the answer. Data warehouse technologies typically aggregate and consolidate data from multiple disparate sources, overwriting data as they go. With Domain technology, each disciplines content is isolated from change by others while available to all, and without the need for it all to be initially consistent. Each application publishes data into a central data repository; however, each application has a dedicated section within the repository for its data. Same as relationships are created between the data as engineers perform their work. This structure is leveraged to create consistency check reports. Intergraph refers to this as Managed Inconsistency It will feature as a cornerstone of the SmartPlant Foundation platform going forward. Adding status and ownership management for example

14 SPF2008 Progress Management What is Progress Management? Ability to plan and report the development of time critical activities related to documentation. Ability to track the development of deliverables and groups of deliverables against a project plan/set of milestones. Design Progress for individual deliverables Activity Progress for groups of deliverables Ability to set and track planned, actual and forecast dates. Ability to report on man-hour budgets, & remaining man-hours to completion. Ability to view progress at varying levels within a Project hierarchy.

15 SPF2008 Progress Management Overview Deliverables such as documents and drawings are registered for progress tracking which associates them to a workpack. A workpack groups deliverables that share a common lifecycle. The workpack contains plan details. Man hour budgets Plan start and end dates The lifecycle is defined as a set of production steps. Steps have planned, actual and forecast dates. Steps have a weighting = the % of the workpack progress accrued. Progress is accrued as steps are completed The workpack has a configured project hierarchy Progress is reported at any level of the hierarchy Progress is rolled up through the hierarchy S-curves show performance against plan

Contract,Unit, Area Provides project structure by which deliverables are grouped. Defines up to 10 levels to which Progress is calculated, rolled up and viewed. Workpacks are defined uniquely within the hierarchy. Workpacks can be created from templates which have a separate hierarchy for mapping Progress can be monitored at any level in the hierarchy and in any order. Can view Progress for a particular Area (which would be a rolled-up value based on the Progress of all Units in the Area) Can view Progress for a particular Unit within the Area. Shows how much Progress a Unit contributes to its Area.

27 SPF Progress Management Activity Progress Accrual The Activity is 100% complete when all deliverables have reached the final step (base on return code) The Activity s Progress is recalculated everytime: Related deliverable status is updated. Deliverables are added to or removed from the Activity. The Activities Progress can increase or reduce. Progress is rolled up through the Workpacks and project hierarchy and combined with Design Progress.
