Airport Testing Services Our Airport Testing Services include a range of geophysical and non-destructive investigations of airfield pavements to provide a range of information on their construction and condition. We use the latest technology including laser and ground penetrating radar (GPR). The collected data is used to conduct engineering analysis and prepare reports which assist our clients in targeting repairs and dealing with deterioration in a timely and carefully targeted basis. Key Capabilities PCI Classification according to ASTM 5340 PCN / ACN Assessments Falling and Heavy Weight Deflectometer Surveys Back analysis of the deflection bowl data Layer Moduli and Estimated Subgrade CBR Residual Life of Airfield Pavement Increased Load Capacity Maintenance Design Strategy Pavement Designs Load Transfer Testing Pavement Management System Implementation Video Logging Visual Assessment including pavement condition Asset inventory to sub-meter accuracy Geometric Profiling (curve, grade, crossfall) Longitudinal Profiling Surface Texture Pavement Structure Voiding / Stripping / Delamination Mapping Skid Resistance Testing Insitu / DCP Testing, Boreholes, Coreholes Moisture Assessment 1. Laser Crack Management System (LCMS): The LCMS is one of the most advanced platforms available for collecting airport pavement condition and asset data.
LCMS Data Collection Vehicle
The LCMS delivers proven results on more surfaces than any other sensor in the market; from hotmix asphalt to chipseal, porous pavement, and both tined and untined concrete. Able to perform a complete pavement condition inspection at full 1mm resolution, in a single pass, automatically, day or night, at 100+ km/h; the LCMS can dramatically reduce your labor costs and time to complete your projects. The LCMS offers a key differentiator over other automatic crack detection techniques in that it is a 3D imaging system. This 3D system provides not only intensity data which other competing systems provide but also range data. The LCMS uses two high 3D laser profilers in order to achieve a vertical resolution of 0.5mm and lateral resolution of 1mm. It is the use of this range data in the automatic crack detection algorithms that has the greatest influence in reducing the number of false positives that any automatic method results in. The system is capable of automatically extracting crack data including crack type (transverse, longitudinal, crocodile) and severity. Due to the high resolution of the data the system is also capable of detecting automatically; ruts (depth, type), macro-texture (digital sand patch) and ravelling (loss of aggregates). Using this technology, we can carry out a visual and laser survey for the collection of high definition pavement images and pavement profile laser data. The data is processed for the determination of Pavement Condition Index (PCI), Boeing Bump Index (BBI) and rut depth. GREENJET will deliver a video player with the video imagery data captured for future reference. Key Features: Automatic detection and measurement of cracking (both sealed and unsealed) Automatic rutting measurement (compliant with ASTM E1703, Taut Wire, Moving Ruler, Brazilian method, 5 Point rut depth calculation) Automatic pothole detection and measurement Automatic detection and measurement of raveling (an industry first) Delamination detection and measurement Shoving detection and measurement Water-entrapment calculation Edge drop off and curb detection and measurement Joint detection and faulting measurement Pavement type detection (asphalt, chipseal, porous, concrete)
Automatic measurement of macro-texture (MPD, MTD) in all 5 AASHTO bands Pick-out detection Bleeding detection and measurement Pavement marking detection and dimension measurement GPS tagging of measurements and images (using Customer-supplied GPS) Measurement of longitudinal profile and calculation of roughness (optional) Technical Specifications: 5,600-11,200 Hz scanning frequency Up to 2.5 mm longitudinal scanning interval at speeds up to 100 km/h 1 mm transverse resolution 0.25 mm vertical resolution for single point measurements mm vertical resolution for 1 inch IRI measurements (confidence level of 95%) Benefits: An average runway (2,500m) can be scanned in less than 2 hours with 0.5mm resolution (pending traffic and operational requirements on the day). Cost benefits outweighs costs and resource intensive visual inspections. Scan Runways, taxiways, aprons, roads (sealed and unsealed) Minimal disruption to airport operations and air traffic High definition TV quality cameras (Right-of-Way) to enable better resolution when images are post rated in the safety of an office environment. Highly accurate data compared to visual inspections. Ability to create historic data and monitoring Ability to optimize budget and pavement asset management requirements Data processing: Vision is a desktop application that offers synchronised viewing of pavement management data. Data collected from an airport pavement only takes on meaning once it is processed. With Vision, all data processing, visualisation, and reporting can be completed from the safety of one place.
Deliverables: Comprehensive Condition assessment report and optimisation recommendations A detailed report on the pavement design and treatment recommendation will be provided. The report will cover the methodology, a summary of all collected data and is certified by an RPEQ engineer. The report will include: Methodology, data collection results and data analysis. ACN/PCN report for runways Remaining life assessment of the Airport facilities. Pavement design and recommended treatment rehabilitations on the runways, taxiways and aprons. The report will include specifications and detail of potential construction methodology (including detail of possible stage construction in order to minimise the impact on scheduled Regular Public Transport flights). Any runways, taxiways or aprons lighting or shoulder works required because of the rehabilitation treatments. Provision of for construction civil design and specification including preparation and obtaining statutory approval and permits. Design of all required line marking for repair of runways, taxiways and aprons. Quantities and estimated associated costs for recommended design/s for the runways, taxiways and aprons. Complete drawing to facilitate construction. GreenJet can include layers to the provided AutoCad files including drawings with the pavement rehabilitation treatment and specifications.

Automatic Crack Detection Data. generated and cracks ranked. Crack imagery and detailed data automatically
Fully interactive client software provided Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Survey: Carry out a GPR survey for the collection of radio frequency data. The data is processed to determine a continuous pavement profile and detect any changes. The GPR is calibrated with the boreholes and will be positioned in similar offsets as the HWD testing to achieve the most accurate PCN assessment. The GPR survey can be conducted along the runways, taxiways and aprons.
GripTester: The GripTester is one of the most widely used runway friction testers. It is portable, easy to use and offers reliable performance and results. The GripTester is a three wheeled trailer weighing around 80kg. 2. Pavement Testing - Non Destructive: GreenJet has the capability to utilise state-of-the-art pavement testing equipment including a Heavy Weight Deflectometer (HWD) especially suited to airport pavements for both flexible and rigid pavements. The HWD scope will encompass testing at different intervals along the Airport facilities and in general off set from the centre of the runways and taxiways in both sides and on a grid format on the aprons. Dynatest HWD-100: The speed of cycle is much faster than a standard FWD (higher weight at lower drop height). 3. Pavement Testing - Invasive: Carry out a geotechnical investigation to ascertain/verify pavement profile and soil characterisation. GREENJET is capable for conducting boreholes and coredrills as requested. Samples can be taken from boreholes to perform selected laboratory testing to further classify the pavement materials and properties including Particle Size Distribution, Moisture Content, Atterberg limits and soaked CBR. 4. PCN Technical Assessment: Carry out a PCN assessment utilising pavement deflection data and state-of-practice mechanistic analysis. This is conducted considering Airports aircraft types and movements.
For the assessment of the runway PCN calculation, use of ELMOD 6 computer program is used, which allows a better approach of the ACN/PCN values considering mechanistic-empirical concepts. ELMOD 6 provides two different procedures for estimating PCN values. The recommended procedure is referred to as the ACN/PCN Using Fleet Mix method, which considers the damaging effect of each aircraft type and related traffic volume, and utilises the material models as defined with normal mechanistic design. It is still possible to use the old conventional method, referred to as ACN/PCN Using Unrestricted Traffic. It should be noted that both procedures are Technical Evaluation (T) representing a specific study of the pavement characteristics and application of pavement behaviour technology. The calculation of the PCN values will follow the concept, which is more in accordance with usual mechanistic design (ACN/PCN Using Fleet Mix method). LCMS Automatic Crack Detection and Ranking

Mass Data Processing capabilities. Ability to process 2 billion points per minute.
At the heart of the technology is a 3D search algorithm rendering unlimited quantities of point cloud data in real-time. As this algorithm efficiently grabs only one point for every screen pixel, it can display models of previously unimaginable sizes at interactive framerates, without the need for a powerful CPU or graphics card. Unlimited Detail (UD) technology is able to remove all limits surrounding the amount of 3D data that you can capture. No longer are 3D visualisation and rendering technologies reliant on expensive, fast hardware with large amounts of RAM. Hologram Room
