2 CSIR NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR INTERDISCIPLINARY SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR THE SUPPLY & INSTALLATION OF CONFOCAL FLUORESCENT MICROSCOPE Expression of Interest is invited from Manufacturers, Indian agents of manufacturers for the supply and installation of CONFOCAL FLUORESCENT MICROSCOPE. The Institute intends to procure a CONFOCAL FLUORESCENT MICROSCOPE with the following capabilities:- The instrument should have the capability to understand the structure and function of Cellular Components and cells as a whole. Researchers would also like to study photo physical properties of fluorophores such as emission spectral position, shape and the excited state lifetime. They would like to have a clear picture about the precise location and the binding. The instrument would also have the capability for study of organic electronics such as solar cells. This includes imaging of the interfaces, helping to understand localization of the donor/acceptor systems, their organization and the photo induced generation of excitons. In this connection, it is proposed to have technical presentations from all prospective suppliers to have a better understanding of the different models available in the market, technical knowhow of the recent advances in the field of CONFOCAL FLUORESCENT MICROSCOPE. The proposed presentation is fixed for at AM. The dates cannot be changed under any circumstances. Please depute a person with sound credentials, technical knowhow and senior enough for the Presentations & Clarifications which would have to be given to the Technical & Purchase Committee and Senior Scientists of this Institute. The suppliers expressing interest for the supply of the above should come with the following documents for presentations. 1. Technical Catalogue for models proposed. 2. A copy of the escalation chart of your company should be submitted. 3. List of End users with their telephone, fax, and model numbers supplied should be submitted. You must ensure that the End user should pertain to the models being proposed.

3 4. A certificate regarding the number of factory trained engineers for the proposed models need to be submitted. 5. Firms must indicate the response time in case of breakdown of the equipment and have a firm plan in place for the service of the equipment which should be elucidated during the presentation. 6. Firms should indicate their willingness to have a Resident Engineer stationed at Trivandrum who should also be factory trained for the purpose of the servicing the equipment. The Institute intends to procure a 120 KV CRYO TEM with the following capabilities:- The instrument would be mainly used for biological as well as soft organic materials. The instrument should ideally have Cryo facility to minimize damage to the samples. The instrument should also have the capability for 3D tomography. In this connection, it is proposed to have technical presentations from all prospective suppliers to have a better understanding of the different models available in the market, technical knowhow of the recent advances in the field of 120 KV CRYO TEM.
