June,2017 COMPANY THDCIL is one of the premier power generators in the country with installed capacity of 1513 MW with commissioning of Tehri & Koteshwar Dam, 50MW Wind Power Project at Patan and 63MW in Dwarka Gujarat to its credit and is bestowed with 'Mini Ratna-Category-I & Schedule 'A' Status. Since the commissioning of its first project viz. Tehri Dam a multipurpose project on the river Bhagirathi in and Koteshwar HEP (400 MW) in , We are a profit making organization. Tehri Dam project started with the status of a project of 'National Significance' during its planning stage and was successfully commissioned in spite of stringent opposition during its implementation. Badoni, General Manager (Planning & Monitoring) who has witnessed these glorious years almost from the beginning... Apr.-June.,2017 Question- How do you see THDCIL in its 30th year of inception? Response- I recall the days when I joined THDCIL in Sept There were people from different organizations & different organizational culture. There were intense oppositions for our maiden project Tehri Dam & HPP and there were always clouds of uncertainties on our survival as an organization. Facing all the challenges, we successfully evolved from initially a Hydro Power Generator confined within Bhagirathi Valley to a diversified Power Generator with noble contribution from Hydro & Wind Power. Sh. V.K. Badoni, GM(P&M) We are now a multi- project, well recognized organization with a larger geographical presence. We are Mini Ratna, Schedule A Company aspiring to be a world class energy entity with commitment to environment and social values. 14

15 Question- What are challenges for Corporation today. Response-Global concern for climate change, national commitments to curb carbon emissions as well as 24x7 power for all has changed the focus on increase in generation of electricity from non fossil fuels. Challenges that we face today are:- 1. Completion of under construction projects without time & cost overruns & keep tariff competitive. 2. Addition of more renewable power projects. 3. Timely realization of outstanding dues-discom. 4. Settlement of Contingent liabilities. 5. Retain the Knowledge that is likely to drain in another 4-5 years due to natural attrition. 6. Enhance motivation level of employees TALKING POWER Apr.-June.,2017 Question- Shortlist top 3 achievements of THDCIL? Response-Three achievements covering three aspects of development are: On Economical Aspects it is achieving 1513 MW installed capacity resulting in profits. On Environmental Aspects achievements include Catchment Area Treatment in 52,204Ha land, Compensatory afforestation in 5944 ha.land, botanical garden Koti, Tehri in 14.28ha. and all activities with care for environment. On Social Aspects achievements include construction of Hydro Power Engineering college in Tehri, Holistic development of target villages in cut off areas of Tehri Reservoir and construction of 1188 toilets in schools. 15

16 Question- What is the role of Team Corporate Planning/Monitoring in THDCIL?. Response-Corporate Planning Team in THDCIL acts as interface with the key external stakeholders and is a central command centre responsible for framing organizational roadmap for future based on strength, weakness, opportunities and threats. The roadmap interalia includes future projects, organizational structuring and capacity building plans. Project Monitoring Team keeps a close watch on the ongoing projects progress, resolves interfacing issues and highlights key issues and risks for prompt action so as to keep a check on time &cost overruns. Response-In the changing business environment, considering the challenges ahead, every employee has to give his best in the assigned role and needs to be inquisitive and be aware of what is going on in the power sector and in the organization. As most important stakeholders, they should effectively utilize the information being made available to them. They should not hesitate to give their suggestions for betterment of the organization as a whole. My message to employees is THDCIL is your company and irrespective of your position, your suggestions matter 16
