3 Materials Sponge rubber As it is a porous, closed-cell rubber product, cellular rubber is the ideal material for sealing or insulating, isolating or absorbing shocks, silencing and deadening sounds. Our mixed-cell qualities are particularly appropriate for use in the automotive sector. Sponge rubber is an expanded rubber product with a mainly open cell structure made of natural and/or synthetic rubbers. On the inside, it is porous with a sponge-like structure and on the outside has a watertight, closed surface. This means that there are practically no limits to its uses: whether a modern sponge rubber seal or a special moulding. Highly-complex material compounds containing other materials such as Teflon can be used to make high-tech sponge rubber products. Another of its unique characteristics when compared with other chemically-expanded sponges is that it is totally free from blowing agents such as azodicarbonamide*. As a result, the foams do not contain any blowing agent residue and have a uniform cell structure with regular cell walls, giving them consistent isotropic mechanical qualities such as a low weight, high buoyancy, flexibility and excellent heat insulation properties. Sponge rubber *azodicarbonamide has recently been placed on the REACH watch-list. (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) The homogeneous elastomers making up our solid rubber range are particularly suitable for sealings with a high seating or weighting pressure. Compounds made of NR, CR, EPDM, NBR, fluoro-elastomers and silicon rubbers offer hardnesses of Shore A and so can be used in all kinds of different applications. 1K/2K/4K liquid seals Single-component or dual-component polyurethanes, silicones, adhesives or different moulding systems still in liquid (not set) form can be used directly on-site to mould products precisely onto your components. We pay special attention to the pouring properties, density and reactivity of all products, working in close cooperation with all leading component manufacturers. We re sure that we ll be able to find just the right solution for your needs. Filters VYON and GURON are two filter materials made out of porous low-pressure polyethylene. In 2008 we started manufacturing top-quality cellular rubber products at our new factory in Romania and S.C. KOEPP ROMANIA S.R.L. has now become a 100% subsidiary of KÖPP.
