1 CREATING ENTRIES The first thing you ll do in the Entries screen is select the department that you want to enter into. Click on the down arrow and a drop down list of all the departments will show. Click on the appropriate department, in this example County Shoot. Now you will need to select your Division, so again click on the down arrow and all the divisions will appear. In the example we will select Archery. Note: You can look at the Entry Cart to the left to see which member you are adding entries to. 1 P a g e

2 ALWAYS be sure to read the SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS! pop ups before you continue with your entries. In our example, it reminds you that County Shoot has only TWO age divisions and gives you those age divisions (again aged divisions are based on your age as of December 31, 2013). It also reminds you that County Shoot is an optional contest, HOWEVER to complete your project you must participate at Exhibit Day and refers you to what division you need to go to make that entry. It also tells you the consequences of not completing your project. Once you ve read the SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS! you can hide them by clicking on the click to hide underneath the warning. Click on the down arrow and the drop down will show all the archery classes, read through them carefully and make your first (or only) selection. 2 P a g e

3 In our example, Dan Doodle will be participating in Class 413 :Sr Recurve Bow Limited. After selecting a class then you will need to select your Club in which you do shooting sports. Click on the down arrow and the drop down list will display all the active Clubs in Douglas County. Select your club. If you are sharing a bow (or gun) you can click on the box. This is helpful for when the superintendents are putting together shooting squads. In our example, Dan will not be sharing a bow. Finally, click on the Add Entry to Cart. 3 P a g e

4 This will be the next screen. Under Your Entry Cart you can see that you have an Archery item in the cart. If you are done making Archery entries but have other entries to make you will select Add different Entry, if you are done with all your entries you will select Continue but if you have another Archery entry to make select Add similar Entry. In our example, Dan wants to enter in one more Archery class for the County Shoot, so he will select Add similar Entry. Again, the SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS! will pop up, but also another pop up appears that says Click here to copy data from your last entry. By clicking on this pop up box it will automatically populate the Class and Club with the same information from the last entry. See below (If this box does not popup automatically, you need to enable popups on your computer.) 4 P a g e

5 Example of copying your last entry, all fields are populated with the same information. Of course he doesn t want to enter in the same class, so simply click on the down arrow of the Class and select the next Archery class in which to enter. In our example, Dan also wants to add Class 417 :Sr Recurve Bow Traditional. 5 P a g e

6 The Club is already populated, but it too could be changed it necessary and again he will not be sharing a bow so click on Add Entry to Cart Once again, you can check the Cart and see there are 2 Archery items in the cart. Now, Dan is going to address the Warning about entering in Exhibit Day so we ll select the Add different Entry. 6 P a g e

7 So you come back to the beginning where your first selection is Department. Dan needs to enter for Exhibit Day so he checks the Douglas County Competition Rules and Regulations (CRR s) and finds that his Shooting Sports project is under the Natural Resources Department. He clicks on the down arrow to show all the Divisions and selects Natural Resources. On the next screen, click on the down arrow and all the Divisions under Natural Resources are displayed. In our example, Dan selects Shooting Sports. 7 P a g e

8 Again, the SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS! will pop up. These instructions remind you that you enter in only ONE shooting discipline, that your project needs to be specific to the discipline that you choose, that there are THREE age divisions at Exhibit Day (different than County Shoot) and once you ve made your Class choice and the entry deadline has passed you CAN NOT make a change. Note: If you decide to change you class selection prior to the deadline date you must contact the 4-H Office at or kobryan@douglas.co.us to make that change, it can not be done thru On-line Entries. Finally, it tells you of any consequences for not following the CRR s. 8 P a g e

9 Click on the down arrow and ALL the Classes will be displayed. Make your selection. In our example Dan selects Class 444: Sr Archery which will be a Display board. Had he made a bow stand, quiver or some other item he would have selected Class 468: Sr Archery Stand Alone. 9 P a g e

10 Description is optional. If you know what you will be bringing to Exhibit Day, please provide a description of what you are bringing. In our example, Dan has decided to do a display board on choosing the right broadhead for the right activity, i.e. target shooting, hunting, etc. so he entered the title of his display board. Another example might be if you are doing Cake Decorating Unit 4 Character Cakes and you re planning on bringing a puppy dog cake you might say Brown and white puppy dog cake. Again, select the Club that you are doing this project through. Finally, you have the option to select Schedule an interview or No interview All members are strongly encouraged to participate in the judging interview as this is one of the life skills you learn in 4-H. Sometimes circumstances arise that prevent you from being there for the interview. However, remember that your completed project and record book must be turned in at 9:00 a.m. at Kirk Hall on Exhibit Day (no earlier or later) so the project is available to be judged at the convenience of the judge. By selecting Interview or No Interview also helps the Extension Staff in scheduling the judging interviews. If, after your initial selection you need to change from Interview to No Interview or vice versa you must contact the 4H Office at or kobryan@douglas.co.us to make that change, it can not be done thru On-line Entries. Click Add Entry to Cart 10 P a g e

11 If you need to exit the On-line entries and continue at a later time you can save what items you have in your cart by clicking on the Save Cart. You can also edit you cart by clicking on the Edit Cart. Let s select Edit Cart to make some corrections. 11 P a g e

12 You can edit your cart before submitting it. You can completely delete an item by clicking on the icon. Or you can edit by clicking on the icon. 12 P a g e

13 After making any changes, click Save this cart for later. LIVESTOCK ENTRIES Next we ll show an example of livestock entries. In our example, Dan has pigs to enter. So he will select the Swine Department. Again, SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS! pop up explaining the Tag ID number to use and also a reminder to enter in showmanship. And he will select the Division Market Hogs. 13 P a g e

14 For all the livestock Market divisions there is only one class to select All:Market **** entries to be sorted. After the animals go through their final weigh in at check in day at fair they will then be sorted by weight and divided into classes. Following the Special Instructions, Dan enters the number 99 from the yellow ear tag that his pig received on ID Day. Even though the tag reads DC Fair 99, only the numbers are entered. 14 P a g e

15 Next he selects the Club that he is taking the Swine project with and then an optional field is your animal s name. Click Add Entry to Cart Once again, if you can select Add similar Entry if you have more market hogs to enter. Select Click here to copy data from your last entry 15 P a g e

16 All the fields populate with the same information so all that needs to be done is change the Tag ID and Animal Name. See below Tag ID is changed to 100 and Animal Name to Mary Ann. 16 P a g e

17 Click Add Entry to Cart With all his pigs entered, now Dan will want to enter in Showmanship. Remember the Special Instructions reminded him that Showmanship is mandatory! So he ll select Add different Entry 17 P a g e

18 So he selects the Swine department, Swine Showmanship division, Senior Showmanship class and then selects his appropriate Club. Clicks Add Entry to Cart In our example, Dan has one last project to enter in and that is his breeding heifer. So he will select the Beef department and the Breeding Beef division. Next he must select the correct class, so he will refer to his Non-Market Beef ID Form for the DOB (date of birth) of his heifer, which was March 15, Looking at the drop down list, heifers born Jan 1 thru Apr 30 the previous year (i.e. 2013) his heifer would be a Junior Yearling or Class P a g e

19 Animal Birth Date and Tag ID for breeding beef is optional but members are strongly encouraged to enter in this information. Then select your club and enter your animal s name (optional). Please note in the SPECIAL INSTRUCTONS! It reminds you that showmanship is mandatory so Dan will also add the beef showmanship class to his cart. 19 P a g e

20 So now Dan has entered in all his projects and is ready to Check Out. So he will click Continue. " The next screen is where you will enter the number of animals in each group that you are entering for the fair. If you do not have livestock projects, just select Continue but if you do have any of the livestock projects listed please enter the number of head. This helps the Superintendents decide on the number of pens that will need to be set up in each barn. After you ve completed this page select Continue. 20 P a g e

21 This is where you will review your entries and make any corrections or delete any errors. If after reviewing the cart you realize that you forgot to make an entry you can select Add more Entries for (Name), you can Save this cart for later, you can delete everything in your cart by selecting Empty Cart or if you re done you can Check-out. However, this screen will look a little different if you are making entries under a Family account (Quick Group) 21 P a g e

22 So for example purposes we have created a Vet Science entry and a Market Goat entry for DingDong, marked 1 market goat on the Additional Information screen and now we re reviewing the his cart for completeness. Note that you have the same four options as with a single Exhibitor PLUS the option Add Entries for a different Exhibitor. So let s select Add Entries for a different Exhibitor. 22 P a g e

23 This takes you back to the first screen where you will enter the next family member. In our example we will add HoHo Hostess. So you will go through the same screens that you did for adding DingDong. Again you can use the password that you created for the family (recommended) or create a new one for HoHo. So for example purposes we have made entries for HoHo have put them in his Entry Cart. As you can see the cart will show both DingDong s and HoHo s entries. So we are at the Review Cart screen and again you can save this cart for later, go back and add more entries for HoHo, or if there s another family member you can go back, create that member and add entries for that family member, empty the cart completely or check out. Check out will be the same for a family as for a single exhibitor. So let s move on to the Checking Out section. (See other Document) 23 P a g e
