2 Sustainable Mobility Solutions with Highly Dispersible Silicas (HDS): Zeopol and Huberpol Zeopol and Huberpol precipitated highly dispersible silicas (HDS) deliver distinct and substantial improvements in processability, dispersion, reinforcement and product performance characteristics over carbon black and conventional silicas, as well as other HDS products. 5 Conventional Silicas and Silicates for Tire and Rubber Applications Hubersil Silica Hubersil silica is Huber s conventional line of reinforcing silicas. These silicas are available in the form of spray-dried powders that can be used in many diverse rubber compounds. Hubersil is also available as a low-dust granular particle that has a higher density than other Huber product formats, while maintaining excellent dispersion. The increased density can provide increased rates of incorporation. Some advantages when using Hubersil in rubber applications may include significant improvement in abrasion, tensile, tear, flex fatigue, chipping, chunking and/or hysteresis properties. Hydrex Magnesium Aluminosilicate Hydrex magnesium aluminosilicate is a high brightness specialty pigment, which is used as a partial replacement for titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) and improves color retention properties of compounds while reducing the overall compound cost. Partial replacement of TiO2 with Hydrex in white compounds provides equivalent original whiteness with increased resistance to yellowing during exposure to UV radiation. The low surface area of Hydrex provides ease in processing and improvements in hysteresis properties such as resilience and running temperature. Excellent extrusion properties such as rate and surface smoothness have also been achieved using this pigment. Zeolex Sodium Aluminosilicate Zeolex sodium aluminosilicate is Huber s product line of semi-reinforcing agents used in rubber compounds to provide a broad range of rubber properties at a reasonable cost. A key benefit of Zeolex is its high whiteness, which makes the grades ideal for light colored rubber compounds. The range of surface areas available provides moderate reinforcement and maintains good abrasion resistance.
