2 Innovative refractory products and lining sysms To meet the globally increasing demand for cement, energy saving firing sysms with high specific output have been developed in the industrialized countries and introduced throughout the world. One of the primary results of these developments is the precalciner kiln with a short rory kiln section. The use of alrnative fuels has also ken on a new significance. Keeping pace with this chnology requires suible refractory products and lining sysms: the conditions inside the kiln are a dermining factor of its service life. 2
