1 All Plan Holders 3/3/ Marina Middle School Window Replacement and Seismic Retrofit 5 Window Replacement and Seismic Retrofit 11 DSA No San Francisco Unified School District 16 SFUSD Project No The information contained herein is issued as an Addendum to the Bid Documents for the Project listed above. All information included herein shall become a part of the Bid Documents for that Project. All bidders are required to acknowledge this Addendum on their Proposal Documents. Failure to acknowledge receipt of this Addendum shall deem the Proposal unresponsive and the proposal shall be disqualified. 1 Project Manual Project Manual , Date/ Time for submittal of id Proposal will be changed from Wednesday March 08, 2017 at 2:00PM to Wednesday March 15, 2017 at 2:00PM ADD to: 3.3 Schedule of Allowances Allowance No. 4: Include in the stipulated sum Six Thousand Dollars ($ ) in the base bid for the contractor to restore any vinyl graphics or appliqué on the cafeteria walls in Building D that may be damaged as a result of structural work. Contractor to coordinate and work with Atelier Cho Thompson for graphics. Bid Form 3 Project Manual Allowance No. 5: Include in the stipulated sum Fourteen Thousand Dollars ($14,000.00) in the base bid to provide (6) planter boxes (1) compost bin and a 36 high wood fence and gate around the student garden area on the North side of Building D. Also include protection of (2) conifers, (2) palm trees, all tall shrubs adjacent to building D noted in attached ASK 1 and all trees adjacent to building C. Protection may include temporary location of trees and if damaged, replacement. ADD: 1.10 Painting Scope Include in the scope of painting the colors and scheme for repainting the cafeteria for areas that may be damaged as a result of structural work. 4 Cafeteria Painting ADD: Painting plan and elevations for cafeteria panting by Atelier Cho Thompson date May 27, 2016 (10 pages 11x17 format). Cafeteria painting required due to retrofit work shall follow this plan. 2 Plan Holder RFI s 6 Question Your specification calls for roto operators, but in all of my SFUSD work we've used cam handles (these are generally less expensive, more durable, harder for students to steal off of windows, and acceptable to the district) Are Cam handles acceptable? Cam handles are acceptable for window operators. 7 Question Window type N on sheet A1.3 is not indicated as a Deferred Approval opening. In my recent dealings with DSA, they have required any opening taller or wider than 120 to go through DSA approval. Please confirm the type N windows should be part of the Deferred Approval. Windows type N1 and N2 should be noted as deferred approval and installed as part of phase 2 of this project. 8 Question On plan sheet A1.31, window types N1 and N2 are listed with glass type GL-5. Glass type GL-5 is not shown on the plans or in the specifications. Please provide information for this glass type. Windows type N1 and N2 should be listed with glass type GL-2. 9 Question Spec section A indicates the storefront finish is Class II Clear Anodized. Spec section A indicates the aluminum window finish is Class I Color Anodized (Color To Be Selected). Is this correct? Should the windows and storefront not match? Please confirm the finish for the aluminum windows and aluminum storefront. Aluminum storefront finish should be Class 1 Color Anodized to match windows. 10 Question On plan sheet A2.2, First & Second Floor Plan between g/l C & D, there are window types 31 and 32. These windows are not shown on the window schedule on sheet A1.2. Please provide the information for these 2 windows. Windows 31 & 32 are located in Building B and are found in the window schedule located on sheet A Question Spec section b indicates the inboard lite for the Suntuitive Thermochromic glass (Glass Type GL-4) should be Guardian SN68 Low E glass. Spec section C indicates the inboard lite for Glass Type GL-4 shall be ¼ Clear glass. Please confirm which is correct. Inboard lite shall be ¼ clear glass with Low-E coating. 12 Question Spec section A&B indicates that Glass Type GL-1 and GL-2 should be annealed laminated glass. Translucent white for glass type 1 and Grey Tinted for glass type 2. Both laminated glass types will absorb heat and are at risk for thermal breakage. I would recommend changing the spec so both glass type 1 and 2 are heat strengthened laminated glass to prevent thermal breakage. District standard is annealed laminated glass. No substitutions. 13 Question The window elevation plan sheets reference glass type GL-3 Insulated Aluminum Sandwich. I could not find any information on this aluminum panel in the specs. Please confirm this can be a standard 1 thick aluminum faced insulated panel provided by the storefront manufacturer. Standard 1 thick aluminum faced insulated panel is acceptable. (Color to be selected)
3 14 Question Please confirm the duration for this project. I couldn t find a schedule in the specs and the spec section Agreement doesn t list the number of days for the project. Please refer to section for Time and milestone schedule. For Phase 1 include 131 calendar days from notice to proceed. Phase 2 construction is summer of Question Plan sheet A0.0 references the Americans With Disabilities Act. Is it the intent of the district that all of the windows on this project meet ADA requirements? All operable vents at sill conditions shall comply with ADA requirements. All mechanical hardware provided for openings above 7ft shall also comply. 16 Question Is the district planning a bid extension for this project?
