1 Regional Basketball Development Officer (East & Central) Job Description 1 Lead the implementation, coordination and monitoring of an integrated basketball development pathway within the region; delivering one coherent, sports-specific pathway, supported by high quality clubs, coaches, officials, and volunteers. 2 Coordinate links between the Jump2it and Twilight Basketball programmes and local basketball structures, to ensure that participants have appropriate opportunities to sustain their participation and development. Accountability 3 The RDO will be line-managed and report to the Head of Communities. 4 The RDO will operate as part of the basketballscotland Communities Team and work in partnership with the Regional Volunteer Bodies. 5 The RDO will work in association with the sportscotland Regional Sporting Outcomes Partnerships and receive support from the Regional Manager. 6 The RDO will be responsible for developing sustainable enhancements to the basketball pathway within their region by: 6.1 Increasing the amount of local and regional schools competitions at both primary and secondary level 6.2 Increasing regional club competition, particularly focusing on youth competition 6.3 Enhancing the number and standard of qualified coaches and officials through an annual programme of education and development 6.4 Supporting clubs to increase their capacity and improve their governance 6.5 Linking participants from Jump2it and Twilight Basketball to the above structures

2 Specific Duties 7 To achieve the desired outcomes, the RDO shall: 7.1 Devise and implement an action plan for their region, in line with the Game Plan for Basketball, working closely with all local partners to identify regional priorities. 7.2 Develop robust partnerships and effective communication channels with and between clubs, schools, Local Authorities, Active Schools, further/higher education groups, regional basketball associations, community/voluntary groups, basketballscotland staff and any other relevant local/national partners. 7.3 Support the effective implementation of basketballscotland s national programmes across the region and contribute to the annual planning and review of those programmes. 7.4 Identify education and development needs and manage a comprehensive education and development programme for coaches, leaders, teachers, officials and volunteers across the region. 7.5 Support clubs to increase their capacity, link with local partners and improve their governance, working closely with the Club Development Officer to implement nationally developed resources. 7.6 Operate as a member of the Communities Team to share Best Practice and deliver coordinated national programmes (e.g. Regional Development Leagues; National Challenges). 7.7 Contribute to monitoring & evaluation of all relevant programmes to demonstrate achievement against specified targets, working closely with the Membership & Reporting Administration Officer. 7.8 Manage the operating budget for the region and pursue, develop and promote opportunities for accessing additional funding streams. 7.9 Promote the benefits of the CashBack programme through all activities Contribute to shared tasks, knowledge and Best Practice with all members of the sportscotland Regional Sporting Partnership Undertake other activities as directed by basketballscotland.

6 Preliminary Terms and Conditions Duration The post is a permanent post, subject to continuous funding from the CashBack for Communities programme. Salary The salary for this position is 20,000-22,500 per annum. Starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience. Leave Annual leave entitlement is 22 days in year 1, increasing to 25 days in subsequent years. Pension basketballscotland does not contribute to an employer s pension scheme. Hours of work The employee s standard working week is 37.5 hours, excluding a lunch break of 30 minutes each day. Normal working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, although out of hours work is associated with this position, with Time Off In Lieu granted. No overtime will be paid. Place of work The employee is required to carry out work throughout their region, but will have an office location at an appropriate venue in the East & Central region.
