2 2018 Radnor Township Shade Tree Committee Goals 1) Implement the Master Street Tree Charter Matt & Eileen a. Complete tree inventory as proposed in charter. b. Create a plan to address gaps. 2) Keep the Ordinance Current and Effective Matt & Jack a. Implement Recommended Tree List as an addendum for easy annual updating. b. Implement Bamboo Ordinance. c. Help residents, developers and contractors follow the ordinance. 3) Serve our Residents via Proactive Communication James, Joe, Ginny a. Increase Education and Awareness to help keep and improve Radnor s Tree Canopy b. Increase awareness of why a tree canopy is valuable. c. Make it easy to obtain advise on existing trees of concern to keep everyone safe. d. Advise residents during construction projects on how to protect existing trees. e. Make residents aware of the Spring and Fall tree giveaways. 4) Balance the Budget a. Obtain Grant Funds b. Provide estimates for anticipated expenses. 5) Partner with our Stakeholders: a. Radnor Board of Commissioners (BOC) b. Radnor Conservancy c. Wayne Business District d. Contractors e. Developers f. Radnor Township Staff 6) Provide input on Key Issues: a. Meeting between the home owner and township arborist is also requested by the Commission. Keeps our streets safer by decreasing driving speeds. d. Helps the environment and storm water management. 2. Advise residents how to help keep & improve Radnor s tree canopy a. Contact an arborist licensed, and registered in Radnor Township, to perform an inspection of your trees to assure your trees are healthy and thus less likely to fall during a storm. b. Consult us for help during your construction projects to learn how to best protect the trees you want to keep. c. Sign up to receive a new tree via the Spring and Fall tree give aways. d. Help us protect our heritage trees, those > 30 DBH by being aware of the Shade Tree Ordinance. e. Plant trees that will thrive in this area by referencing our Recommended Tree List. f. Safely take down trees by referencing our list of arborists licensed, and registered, in Radnor Township. g. Advise us of any unsafe trees lining our streets in the Township Right of Way or in our parks h. Implement our tips on how to recognize unhealthy trees and how to take care of new trees 3.
