6 Aquaculture: Relieving pressure on wild stocks 84% of global marine fish stocks are now fully exploited, over-exploited or depleted Overfishing and habitat destruction are putting many species on the brink of extinction Aquaculture is filling the supply gap and is set to overtake capture fisheries Fisheries and Aquaculture Department - FAO 6
7 Meeting the increased demand for protein Aquaculture is a high growth, $100 billion market and is the fastest growing category in animal proteins Industry growth of 8.8% year over year since 1980 Aquaculture output expected to rise 33% over the next decade More than 50% of the world s seafood is produced by aquaculture Declining wild fish stocks, increasing demand for sustainable fish production and greater consumer awareness of the challenges and limitations of current aquaculture techniques are the key drivers for new, innovative aquaculture systems and technology. AgriMarine uses its environmentally friendly systems to produce premium salmon products. Our systems improve our ability to control the husbandry environment to produce a sustainable, premium fish. Higher incomes in developing nations leading to increased demand for protein Source: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture 2012
8 Providing an inflation-protected investment Growing Demand Constrains Outlook Food security is at the forefront of global issues arable land is limited, leading to finite production. Aquaculture is efficient, and efficient resource use is critical to meeting demands of rapidly growing world population. Population growth and rising per capita GDP Growing demand in developing markets for healthy and highly-efficient animal proteins Increasing limitations faced by land-based animal protein production. Land and freshwater use Capital intensive business Investments in sustainable aquaculture are deemed to provide inflation protection and a long-term fundamental focus. 8
9 AgriMarine System Technology Key features of the technology Energy efficiency with low head, high flow pump Semi-Closed system for effective management of rearing environment Able to operate in fresh and salt water environments in any temperature Risk mitigation from algae and low dissolved oxygen events Adjustable intake depth for source water temperature control Integrated oxygen supplementation and control systems Disease mitigation from sea lice and other pathogens Improved feed utilization Ideally suited for post-smolt production Technology tested and proven for salmon and trout; also suitable for sea bream, sea bass, barramundi, sable fish, sturgeon and other species Outfitted with our proprietary Nutrient Recovery System which turns potentially deleterious waste into feedstock for the production of high value organic fertilizers 9
