2 Abstract In this article, SoloStocks.com, an electronic marketplace focusing on B2B buying and selling and operating in 12 countries in Europe and Latin America, reports on the construction industry and based on results of its own experience, indicates which countries are most likely to make online contacts and which products are in highest demand. It also ranks the 10 most sought after products by country, in the countries where SoloStocks operates. This information is very beneficial to companies that want to increase sales in those international markets. The construction industry has one of the highest contacts- per- product averages recorded on SoloStocks. Every product advertised in this category generates on average of four contacts. All of the countries are primarily interested in construction materials: flooring, panels, beams, wood, stone and granite. Registered transactions include online B2B purchases and sales of construction materials through SoloStocks websites in Europe (France, Germany, Portugal, Italy and Poland excluding those contacts made on SoloStocks Spain) and Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Colombia). SoloStocks also has its own website in Morocco, a country with very strong trade relations with Europe, especially France and Spain. In the first half of 2012, the total number of construction industry contacts made amounted to 5.9% of all SoloStocks transactions. Construction ranks 5th out of 34 industries, behind Foods, Industrial Equipment, Health and Beauty, Logistics and packaging.. Each product produces four buyer contact Construction products, with an average 2,300 on sale in each country, and an average four buyer contacts per product, has the highest success ratio of contacts per product on SoloStocks. This, despite the fact that they are highly priced products, which in many instances have to be customized to a certain extent. All of the industries on SoloStocks generate on average of one contact for every four products advertized, which gives you an idea of how effective this platform can be for companies in the industry that want to advertise their products. In the first half of 2012, the countries with the highest volume of B2B buyer contacts from this industry were concentrated in Latin America, with Brazil and Mexico at the top of the list. This subsector includes products like insulated panels, beams and roofing tiles, wall and floor tiles, floor coverings and other finished materials. Behind Construction Materials are B2B contacts for Construction Machinery like cranes and bulldozers, which account for 16% of construction related machinery; and other Construction Equipment also representing 16% of the total number of contacts. Germany Construction Machinery accounted for half of the industry contacts made in Germany in the first half of the year; Construction Equipment took 30% and the remaining contacts were distributed throughout the other subsectors. 5 Brazil Brazil also recorded a high number of SoloStocks initiated seller/potential buyer contacts in Construction Materials (36%), followed by Construction Equipment (23%) and Construction Machinery (16%). Construction Machinery also did well with 16% of industry contacts, and products in that subsector (cranes, concrete mixers, brick cutters, rollers ) are among the most widely sought after by companies in Colombia. The rest of the contacts were distributed among Doors, Construction Equipment, Kitchen and Bath Accessories and Windows, in that order.
