NEXPEL Next-Generation PEM Electrolyser For Sustainable Hydrogen Production An efficient PEM electrolyser integrated with Renewable Energy Sources (RES) will be constructed and demonstrated. Goals: improvement of components, reduce cost and improve stability. Advanced stack design using components suitable for mass production and highly efficient power electronics. Installation of prototype at the Statoil Energy Park with hydrogen refuelling station. Coupling to RES - wind turbines and silicon solar panels. The produced hydrogen will supply the local hydrogen vehicle fleet. 13
NH34PWR Deployment of 40 PowerCubes in differing climates - in Europe (laboratory validation units) and Africa, including refueling infrastructure based on Linde s current NH3 distribution network (trials for the 3 years of the project) - Replace diesel generators to power mobile telecommunications towers (cell-phone towers) in developing countries and regions without a reliable electrical grid - PowerCube offers a 25% discount on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared to diesel generators with a 2-year ROI, as well as an 80% reduction in green-house gas emissions
FITUP Fuel cell field test demonstration of economic and environmental viability for portable generators, backup and UPS power system applications 13 market ready fuel cell backup power system have been installed at telecommunication operator s sites in Italy, Switzerland and Turkey for real condition tests 6 units have been installed at R&D centres in Netherlands and Turkey for benchmarking tests Project objectives: Demonstrate the technology in various real-life conditions and compare with laboratory benchmark results. Prove the viability of systems by reaching: Reliability with greater than 95% availability Durability with more than 1500 hours operation More than 1000 start-stop cycles Increasing public awareness and industrial acceptance of the technology
HyLIFT-DEMO European demonstration of fuel cell powered materials handling vehicles including infrastructure Objectives demonstration of 30 fuel cell forklifts demonstration of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure performance of accelerated durability tests preparation of market deployment from 2013 on 16
Identification, Preparation and Dissemination of Hydrogen Safety Facts to Regulators and Public Safety Officials Objectives: Aims to Develop and disseminate contemporary training material for regulators and public safety experts Safe and environmentally friendly use of hydrogen Project Importance: Current knowledge gap on hydrogen safety environmental issues Building regulations, local regulations, public safety and permission of technical installations or earlier in project development Need to inform decision making institutions Need for more effective approval procedures Permission problems of technology in realised projects and the regulations, codes and standards (RCS) currently in effect.
HyPROFESSIONALS Development of educational programmes and training initiatives related to hydrogen technologies and fuel cells in Europe Objectives: Background: Today s technicians and students are the next generation of potential fuel cell users and designers, and education now is a critical step towards the widespread acceptance and implementation of hydrogen fuel cell technology in the near future Identify and map existing training programs, materials, funds and stakeholders related to hydrogen and fuel cells in the EU Development of specific joint initiatives to get consolidated educational programs for technical training at different levels in the future Assessment of the proposals by performing real pilot actions based on H2FC for technicians
