3 E V N EVN/NRPB EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Viet Nam: different kind of natural energy resources. However, their reserves very limited; Country considers nuclear power as an option of energy supply for a long time (1980); Since 1996, setting up plan for site selection of nuclear power plants. Aimed to operate first NPP by 2020: => Established law on atomic energy & master plan(2008); => Approved investment report by National Assembly, 25 th Nov., 2009 for construction 1 st NPP under basic energy demand scenario: + Technology: advanced and proven PWR; + Location: Phuoc dinh & Vinh Hai (Ninh thuan province), meeting requirements (social, meteorological, geological, geophysical etc.); In beginning 2010 established National nuclear safety council and steering committee for implementation first nuclear power plant.

8 Stages for site selection of NPP 1- Stage 1: Determination and evaluation of site suitability: Phase 1: Region and area analysis and determination of potential suitable sites; Phase 2: Evaluation of potential sites and identification of sitting candidates; Phase 3: Site comparision and ranking. 2- Stage 2: Site assessment: Appraisal direct and indirect impact on site candidates; Collection and establishment of data base system for design. 3- Stage 3: Stage before operation: Fuly worked out database system of the site; Establishment of reserved evacuated emergency plan. Office study and investigation of sites carried out on whole territory of Viet nam since Potential sites (10).

Decision 460, dated issued by Prime Minister: - Ninh thuan NPP pproject owner: EVN; - 7 sub-projects, including PR center, trainning program.
