5 Some Basic Concepts Basic concepts (edited from Wikepedia) Certification confirmation of certain characteristics of an object, person, or organization. Often provided by some form of external review, education, assessment, or audit. Accreditation is a specific organization's process of certification through formal and independent decision. Professional certification indicates ability complete a job or task competently. Proficiency refers to the state or quality of competence. A competence refers to the state or quality of being adequately or well qualified, in relation to a specific range of skills, knowledge, or abilities.
