1 Occupational Therapist Grade Hours & Leave Capsule job profile Competencies Qualifications, Training & Experience NHS Band 5-6 equivalent) Starting Salary 22,110 FTE upwards (Dependent upon experience) Plus a comprehensive benefits and CPD package hours per week Monday to Friday X4 days 9am to 4.30pm with Tuesdays 9am to 5.30pm 44 days holiday plus 8 statutory bank holiday days per year. The School operates across three terms. Permanent Contract Responsible to: Specialist Occupational Therapist Role Summary: This is a unique opportunity to work closely with pupils, other therapists (e.g. SLT) and teachers to provide specialist direct and indirect therapy to address sensory processing difficulties, anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties, motor and perceptual skills, functional life skills and skills of daily living. To input and advise the Jigsaw+ service (young adult ASD) and their support workers. Duties and Responsibilities: Assessment and treatment of a range of paediatric motor, perceptual, sensory and functional difficulties Planning and writing appropriate therapy interventions, making judgements about type and timing of treatment negotiated with parents and school. Writing and/or delivering group and individual therapy as required and integrating therapy into the class rooms and individual curriculums. Integrating therapy programmes with principles of applied behaviour analysis where appropriate. Managing own caseload effectively with The following list is not exhaustive but is intended to clarify essential attributes required to perform this role. Managing parental and/or school anxieties regarding intervention and prognosis. Evaluating treatment outcomes. Assessing and evaluating therapy outcomes and contributing findings to Annual Review meetings via reports or attendance as required. Demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures. Carry out clinically related administrative duties, relevant to the caseload and operation of the school. To work closely with relevant parties about individuals and practically demonstrate therapeutic approaches where appropriate. To work through the school s professional development programme on applied behaviour analysis and to work towards certification in this area. To develop close links with the whole therapy team To care for and maintain equipment ensuring standards of infection control and safety are maintained. To monitor stock levels in own service area Writes information coming from multiple sources in a logical and comprehensive, yet concise manner Combines information from various sources in a concise and consistent manner Makes sound use of graphics and tables to effectively present numerical data Anticipates having to adapt work methods to changing technology and environments Considers problems from all new perspectives and can expand on the thinking or solutions proposed by others Adapts to new ideas and initiatives relevant to own area of work Understands and promotes the Organisation s business needs and policies for introducing change Manages the workload and completion of tasks by setting timelines and milestones, and involving stakeholders to deliver on time Provides advice on procedures and the use of financial resources Invites and builds upon the ideas of others Building Relationships Follows-up with clients during and after the delivery of services to ensure that their needs have been met Keeps clients up-to-date on the progress Post holder should demonstrate a commitment to on-going professional development. To attend regular therapy team meetings, meetings with class supervisors and lead teachers to discuss individual cases and pupils. To attend fortnightly whole-school staff meetings. To be responsible for maintaining up to date and accurate case notes in line with professional standards and school policies To adhere to local and national standards and guidelines relating to Professional Practice and maintain registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. To recognise and demonstrate commitment to personal development and acquisition of further skills and knowledge relating to clinical areas and evidenced by PDP and Professional Log as specified in the job purpose and the application of these skills to clinical practice. Training and Development: To develop knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and associated disabilities. To participate in relevant training to achieve required qualifications and attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
