1 JOB DESCRIPTION/ CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION POST DEPARTMENT SALARY HOURS RESPONSIBLE TO Library Manager Learning Resources 32,559-35,232 per annum inclusive of London Weighting (Scale PO2) 36 hours per week Information and Guidance Manager THE DEPARTMENT The Learning Resources Department supports the College s core business of Teaching and Learning by providing an inclusive, welcoming and well-equipped environment which promotes and encourages learning and actively engages with the curriculum functions of the college. JOB PURPOSE The Library Manager will work with teams across the College with the general aim of developing and delivering effective learning resources for students. S/he will have the ability to work with colleagues across the College in taking forward the institution s strategic objectives. S/he will need to have very good leadership, organisational and administrative skills and be prepared to initiate and manage change. S/he will require energy and enthusiasm, need to be flexible, hardworking and be able to work effectively to achieve targets and meeting deadlines. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The effective deployment, performance management, motivation, training & development of a high quality learning resources team. To proactively work with students and staff to promote and facilitate the effective delivery and use of the full range of learning resources. The effective management, development and promotion of the Learning Resources Centre. The strategic management and development of electronic resources for the college in close liaison with the IT and Telecoms manager and curriculum managers The strategic management and development of Moodle The rigorous and effective management of student behaviour including close liaison with the Security Manager and the tutor team ensuring that student behaviour is controlled and directed in a non-threatening and supportive manner.

2 The compilation and presentation of information related reports, statistics and other data to the direct line manager and others as required. To represent the college by attending meetings and to disseminate information from both internal and external stakeholder groups as required. To provide college managers and staff with expert advice and guidance on information resources and legislation as required. To undertake the above duties in such a way as to demonstrate the values of the college and to protect and enhance the reputation and public profile of Richmond upon Thames College. To undertake regular CPD activity in order to expand and develop knowledge of Information related legislation, operations and technology. These duties are not exhaustive or exclusive. The duties may be varied provided that any other duties are appropriate to the grading level of the post. GENERAL DUTIES To participate fully in appraisal according to the College requirements and undertake training and development likely to improve personal knowledge and skills as required. To keep up-to-date with Quality Improvement initiatives and to be aware of, and meet, service standards for the department. To propose any ideas that may help to promote and extend the College s reputation and efficient running of the College. 4 CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION The successful candidate will fulfill the following essential requirements, and will also ideally hold the desirable attributes. 5 CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Annual leave entitlement is 29 days per year, rising to 32 days per year after 5 years service, plus 3 days for planned closures of the College, and Bank/Public holidays normally observed in England and Wales. The appointment will be subject to suitable references, medical clearance, enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and evidence of qualifications. All of the above checks must have been completed before the start of the employment. Confirmation of appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a ten month probationary period.
