2 JDRF is the type 1 diabetes charity, improving lives until we find the cure. We fund research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes. We also provide information for children and adults living with the condition at all stages, from diagnosis and beyond. We give a voice to people with type 1 diabetes and campaign for increased focus on, and funding for, research to find the cure. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To take ownership and responsibility for third party fundraising in London and surrounding areas including Essex, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Buckinghamshire. Maximising the fundraising contribution of existing supporters by providing a high level of supporter care and stewardship on an on-going basis, that is appropriate to their needs to encourage income potential. To deliver the Ride to Cure Diabetes event. This is a static cycling event which takes place in central London. To deliver the JDRF programme of stewardship events, including two Discovery Days. These are Information events, which feature talks from JDRF Researchers, Health Care Professionals and JDRF supporters. As member of the South, East and London team, assist the Senior Fundraiser and Development Manager in delivering existing and new activities as well as identifying and developing new fundraising initiatives and relationships. Develop and maintain regional specific communication materials including e-newsletters and newsletters. KEY TASKS Take responsibility for third party/community fundraising to meet agreed annual fundraising targets and objectives by recognizing new opportunities to develop fundraising relationships with local schools, Rotary Clubs, Lions, WI, Scouts, Cubs, Brownies and Guides, places of worship, faith organizations and local businesses by using a range of tools including face to face meetings, talks, presentations, networking mailings and telephone To take responsibility for building relationships with clinics across the region To take responsibility for the delivery of the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes, recruiting corporate teams to take part, managing the budget and stewarding participants to ensure that income targets are achieved To take responsibility for the delivery of the two Discovery Days.

3 To work with the Communications team to create and develop a range of materials and products to support these fundraising activities and events. This will also include ordering fundraising materials from the Communications team to support all fundraising activities in London and surrounding areas. Develop and maintain regional specific communication materials including e-newsletters and newsletters. To work with the team to ensure the region is up to date on administrative and financial processes, including updating DonorFlex. To manage all office-based volunteers and identify volunteering opportunities within the region Evaluate and monitor the events and initiatives of other charities to ensure JDRF is aware of current trends, practices and competition To support the Senior Fundraiser in the delivery of the London Gala and Walk to Cure diabetes. To assist the Senior Fundraiser and Development Manager with the review, analysis and future planning for all London regional events The Regional Fundraiser will undertake other duties consistent with the post and, where necessary, will assist with other areas of work as required by the Senior Fundraiser.

4 PERSON SPECIFICATION Criteria Essential Desirable Experience: Experience of fundraising through events fundraising and/or community fundraising Experience of working with volunteers Experience of organising and delivering events Experience of working to budgets and plans Skills: Experience of working as part of a team Excellent presentation skills Confident in managing multiple projects Ability to organise, prioritise workload, manage time efficiently and meet deadlines Ability to prepare detailed reports and proposals and deliver these to external audiences Excellent attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Can work independently under own initiative and cooperatively as part of a fundraising team Skilled at developing and maintaining internal and external working relationships at all levels Knowledge of fundraising law and practice Experience of using a recognised database. Ability to develop ideas and be creative. Ability to set and monitor income and expenditure budgets. Confident in working under pressure and in a busy environment
