1 Programme Officer, Schools (West Midlands) Are you passionate about equipping young people to feel confident communicating and collaborating with anybody, regardless of their faith, belief, culture or background? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of our award-winning interfaith schools work in the West Midlands. We are looking for someone with a combination of experience and passion to help us further develop existing work, grow in new contexts and initiate new projects in the region. Founded in 1997, 3FF is the UK s leading interfaith/intercultural organisation. We believe that young people should feel confident communicating and collaborating with anybody, regardless of their faith, belief, culture or background. We work with over 100 partner organisations nationally and internationally and directly reach over 16,000, mostly young people, a year. In this role, you will have the opportunity to deliver across our Schools programmes, including; Our Flagship Education Workshops School Linking Amplify (our arts-based sixth form programme) Teacher Training You will be working closely with the Programmes Coordinator (West Midlands) to deliver and to grow our schools work, focusing on establishing a strong presence in Birmingham and the West Midlands. You will have the opportunity to: Build and support relationships between schools and teachers on 3FF s School Linking programme, liaising with senior leaders, teachers and parents Design and deliver interfaith workshops to primary and secondary school children across the region Lead professional development days for teachers Train and support volunteers A rewarding and varied role, we are looking for someone with the ability and passion to work with sensitivity in the interfaith field with young people, teachers and professionals. The ideal candidate will bring experience and knowledge of schools and volunteering, excellent administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to think creatively. We re looking for someone based in or around Birmingham to work remotely, and to attend regular team meetings in our London office to experience and add to this environment. 3 Job Description: Programmes Officer, Schools (West Midlands) Job Purpose: To work with the team to deliver 3FF s Schools programme in Birmingham and the West Midlands. Salary: Contract: Location: Hours: Reports to: 24,000-25,462 (This is a 3FF Band B role) 12 months initially with possibly of extension Home based with weekly travel to London, and regular travel in and around West Midlands Full time (37.5 hours/week) Programmes Coordinator, Schools (West Midlands) Duties and Responsibilities Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not confined to the following: Delivery To deliver across our Schools programmes on Schools Workshops, School Linking, and other Schools-based work, including (but not limited to): o To market, and deliver the schools workshops, including speaking, and facilitating and, managing bookings, and volunteers o To deliver professional training and development events for stakeholders, including volunteers, teachers and partners o To assist with curriculum and resource development, catering for teachers and students from primary, secondary and FE school setting o To build and support the relationships between schools and teachers on 3FF s School Linking programme (including liaising with senior leaders, teachers and parents), delivering professional development days for teachers, planning meetings, observing link events To perform administrative and logistical tasks using agreed process and conventions including planning, activity/event delivery To monitor and evaluate delivery, and to assist with the creation of those procedures To follow a schedule of reporting requirements for own project, and leading on the production of those reports To contribute towards departmental and organisational reports e.g. by providing data and case studies To contribute towards strategy development To be aware of, and track expenditure within the agreed budget

4 Communications & Stakeholders To be an ambassador for 3FF, helping raise awareness of the programme and the whole organisation through speaking about our work in public, social media, writing articles/blogs. To lead on external marketing and communications for the Schools Programme, and contributing towards organisational communications (e.g. event publicity, brochures, exhibition guides, newsletter, social media) To be involved with relevant 3FF s Policy initiatives To lead on some key relationships with stakeholders, particularly for the Schools Programme, maintaining the database of contacts General To work with others to help achieve the organisational aims (below) To be an active participant in the Team, leading on some organisational initiatives to ensure a good working environment for all staff To contribute towards activities to raise funds, such as developing relationships with existing and potential donors, to support funding application writing, and sharing new ideas. To help recruit, induct and support interns Looking for ideas for innovation, growth, sharing our learning, and continuing relationships with stakeholders Undertaking other initiatives necessary to ensure the successful implementation of the work of the organisation Organisational aims: Creating connections between individuals and organisations from different faiths, beliefs & cultures Enabling learning and dialogue about lived diversity and interfaith & intercultural communication Promoting the public understanding of the complexity of lived faith, belief & culture

5 Person Specification: Programmes Officer, Schools (West Midlands) It is essential to have sensitivity to the issues surrounding this area of work & a proven commitment to the aims of the 3FF. Essential Experience of designing, planning and delivering events, trainings and/or lessons to young people, teachers, and professionals- in schools or informal education settings Some experience of working with volunteers or of volunteering yourself Proven administrative and organisational skills Confident to work remotely, with the skills to manage own time and workload, and to communicate with colleagues in other locations Effective written and verbal communication skills including, sensitivity, diplomacy, tact, courtesy and a high level of professionalism Ability to work with increased sensitivity, in particular regarding faith & belief identity A passion for working with and inspiring young people IT competence and specific proficiency in Microsoft software Desirable Formal teaching experience an advantage Knowledge of British school curricula, including RE/ and Citizenship Education
