15 Scrubber project overview (Retrofit) Project schedule: 12 month before installation: Setup of project team 9 month before installation: Definition of scrubber manufacturer and type 6 month before installation: Order of scrubber and installation (yard selected) Up to the beginning of installation there needs to be continuous planning, optimization, preproduction and acquisition approvals. Installation time: 2-4 weeks (depending on degree of preproduction) Commissioning: 2 weeks (followed by class approval) What to have in mind: Most Scrubber manufacturers are component/system suppliers (no turn key solution) Installation yards should be experienced with scrubber system installations Build up of scrubber system competence on the ship owner side is necessary Extensive education of project managers Training of chief engineers (3 days) Crew training regarding handling of caustic soda No additional on board personal is needed for scrubber operation.
