The participants were given an update on Advance Export Declaration (AED), Changes to the Strategic Control List, GST for the Logistics Industry (IRAS), Secure Trade Partnerships/Mutual Recognition Agreements and an overview of TradeXchange. Participants raised queries on amendments pertaining to AED as there would be last minute changes by shipper albeit on the commercial invoice etc to Singapore Customs during the question and answer session. The session provided an opportunity for participants to be updated on the latest changes and it proved to be beneficial. Requests have been received from members on the possibility for another session with Singapore Customs. Mr Alec Koh (Council Member) was the moderator for the question and answer session and Mr Michael Yew (Deputy Chairman) presented to the speakers from Singapore Customs, IRAS and IDA with Certificates of Appreciation. 15

2 FAPAA s 41st Executive Council Meeting The Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistic Ltd (HAFFA) hosted the 41st Executive Council Meeting and AGM of the Federation of Asia Pacific Aircargo Association (FAPAA) in Hong Kong SAR from 12 to 14 June The meeting was held over two days at the Hotel Nikko, Hong Kong SAR, which was attended by delegates from 19 member countries and/or regions of the Asia Pacific. FAPAA brings together the members once a year, to provide them with an opportunity to learn about developments within the industry from one another and to share information on important practical and technical aspects of the air freight forwarding industry. The discussions amongst the group were fruitful and the camaraderie between the delegate countries will help for future implementation of IATA s programs in their respective countries. Security is always high on the agenda at FAPAA meetings as it is an essential part of the freight forwarding business operations. FAPPA welcomed a member from China International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFA) attending the meeting for the first time, officially. The delegates contributed greatly to the meetings sharing some of the issues they face with security, day-to-day operations and education and training. FAPAA is always looking to encourage new memberships from the countries within the Asia Pacific Region and to facilitate greater communication amongst the freight forwarding associations. 3 Air Logistics Forum 2013 SAAA held its first Annual Air Logistics Forum on 6 June 2013 at the Sim Kee Boon Singapore Aviation Academy. Areas presented are on Competition Act, Customs 2015 Plus, Anti- Smuggling (Case Study), Air Cargo Study and Rate Management & Business Performance Analytics. Various questions were raised to the speakers/ presenters ranging from the workings of Competition Act, what can the individuals/organizations can do to the areas which one has to take note of in the air cargo security aspects. Token of Appreciations were presented to the organization participated. Mr Alec Koh (Council Member) hosted the forum and Mr Paul Teo (Council Member) presented the Token of Appreciation. 4 Rebranding & Logo Launch 1st October 2013, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, Bengal Ballroom saw a momentous occasion for SAAA. After months of deliberations and hard work, the Executive Council finally launch the new name and logo of the association. SAAA@Singapore was unveiled by the Guest-of-Honor, Mrs Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Finance & Ministry of Transport. SAAA appreciates the support of members, authorities and partners throughout its 42 years and moving forward, SAAA@Singapore looks forward to more co-operation between members and partners to further enhance the air hub position that Singapore has in the region. SAAA would like to thank all members and the industry for their support throughout the years and certainly look forward to more engagement with all in the years to come 18

6 SAAA Futsal Tournament 2013 SAAA held its annual Futsal Tournament on 15 September 2013 at Planet East Coast. 19 teams participated in the tournament. We saw matches played in sunny weather that progress into the rain. However, the support of family and friends urge the players to perform their best. We were in for a lovely surprise with a group of pretty ladies from Morrison Express forming a cheerleading group to support their team. Chairman for Social & Sports, Mr Elton Seah was present to support the teams and presented the prizes. Congratulations to all winners.
