1 Saskatchewan Labour Force Statistics June 2017 UNADJUSTED DATA According to the Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey during the week covering June 11 th to 17 th,, 2017, there were 579,800 persons employed in Saskatchewan. This is an increase of 700 from May 2017 but 2,400 less than the number employed in June Agricultural employment was 38,100 persons in June 2017, down 1,500 from the May 2017 level and 5,100 less than the June 2016 agricultural employment level of 43,200. Nonagricultural employment was 541,700 persons in June This is an increase of 2,200 from the May 2017 non-agriculture employment level of 539,500 and 2,700 more than June The Saskatchewan unemployment rate for June 2017 was 5.8 percent. This is a decrease of 0.5 percentage points from the May 2017 rate of 6.3 percent but 0.3 percentage points higher than the June 2016 level of 5.5 percent. Saskatchewan's labour force decreased by 2,600 to 615,500 persons in June 2017 from 618,100 persons in May This is 700 less than the June 2016 labour force of 616,200 persons. The Saskatchewan participation rate fell 0.3 percentage points to 70.2 percent in June 2017 from 70.5 percent in May The June 2016 participation rate for Saskatchewan was 71.0 percent. There were 35,700 persons unemployed in Saskatchewan during June This is a decrease of 3,300 from May 2017 but is 1,700 more than the number unemployed in June SEASONALLY ADJUSTED DATA On a seasonally adjusted basis there were 568,400 persons employed in Saskatchewan in June 2017, down 1,900 from the May 2017 level of 570,300 and is down 1,700 from the June 2016 employment level of 570,100 persons. The Saskatchewan seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June 2017 was 6.5 percent. This is an increase of 0.2 percentage points from the May 2017 rate of 6.3 percent and 0.3 percentage points higher than the June 2016 rate of 6.2 percent. CANADIAN DATA Canadian employment increased by 194,300 persons in June 2017 to 18,769,300 persons from 18,575,000 persons in May In June 2016, there were 18,410,600 persons employed in Canada. Canada's unemployment rate decreased 0.6 percentage points in June 2017 to 6.0 percent from the May 2017 level of 6.6 percent. In June 2016, Canada's unemployment rate was 6.4 percent. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Canada was 6.5 percent in June This is 0.1 percentage points lower than May 2017 and 0.3 percentage points lower than the June 2016 level of 6.8 percent.
