2 Abut the cnference The Pwer f Partnership: Wrking in cllabratin t deliver high-quality health and care infrmatin and supprt will be the 11 th Annual Cnference held by the Patient Infrmatin Frum. The cnference will take place n Wednesday 25 May 2016, at the Ryal Cllege f Physicians in Lndn. The cnference brings tgether individuals and rganisatins wrking in patient and health infrmatin and supprt in the NHS, vluntary, cmmercial, academic and freelance sectrs. Last year the cnference attracted ver 200 delegates, and 16 Best Pster cmpetitin entries. What is a Pster? The purpse f a pster is t utline a piece f wrk in a frm that is easily understd by the reader, and which stimulates interest and discussin. The wrk presented can be a prject, piece f research, evaluatin r new infrmatin service r resurce. Submitting an entry fr the PIF Best Pster Cmpetitin prvides an pprtunity t shwcase yur wrk r prject. The tpic f the pster must relate t health infrmatin and supprt fr patients and the public and, in keeping with the theme f the cnference, demnstrate partnership wrking. Psters will be available fr delegates t view, and discuss with their authrs, during a dedicated, timetabled sessin n the cnference prgramme. A shrt summary f the pster will als be included in the cnference delegate pack. The best judged pster n the day, as vted fr by delegates, will win a 100 Amazn vucher, and an Award which will be presented at the end f the cnference. The pster will als be featured n the PIF website and in ur weekly e-newsletter, PIF Aware. Yu can view 2015 s winning pster at: Submissin criteria The criteria belw sets ut what t include, and hw t prduce and present yur pster. All entries are individually assessed t ensure they are apprpriate and meet the criteria belw. Any individual r rganisatin can submit a pster fr cnsideratin. Hwever, the pster shuld nt be cmmercial in nature. The purpse f the cmpetitin is nt t prmte a service, r sell smething, and psters f this nature will nt be cnsidered. If yu are submitting a pster yu, r a clleague, MUST attend the cnference n Wednesday 25 May 2016 t present yur pster. Yu will be required t register fr yur cnference place and pay a delegate fee t attend. Presenters will be asked t stand by their pster, and be available t answer questins abut their wrk between am, and ver lunch. Best Pster Cmpetitin Criteria

3 Sizing All psters must be a single sheet, prtrait (vertical) style. Landscape (hrizntal) psters cannt be accepted. The final pster frmat size shuld nt exceed a maximum size f A0 r a minimum size f A1. Standard sizes are as fllws: A0 psters are 841mm x 1189mm A1 psters are 594mm x 841mm As an example, suggested fnt sizes fr the A0 frmat are: Main title: 78 pt (bld, upper case) Subheading: 36 pt (bld, upper case) Bdy f text: 24 pt (nrmal) Cntent The pster must be abut health infrmatin and supprt fr patients and the public, r a clsely related subject area e.g. health literacy. Given the theme f the 2016 cnference, psters shuld particularly highlight partnership wrking. The pster shuld include the fllwing: Pster title Yur name, rganisatin and address Intrductin: A shrt summary f the purpse f the prject r research (ne r tw sentences) and hw this links with health infrmatin and supprt. Cntext: What was the need fr the wrk? when did it happen? where did it happen? wh was invlved? what did yu d? Apprach: Methds used and evidence-base Cllabratin: Describe use f c-prductin, cnsultative methds in develpment and partnership wrking. Result: Highlight evaluatin undertaken and impact f the wrk. Cnclusin: Shw learning frm the wrk (challenges, successes and lessns learnt), share hw the prject might be implemented mre widely, highlight utcmes r findings, and next steps. 4 Within the abve frmat there is plenty f scpe, fr example yu may decide t use a questin-and-answer, r magazine, style frmat. Design Psters shuld be large enugh t be read easily frm a distance f abut ne metre. Simplicity is the key. Delegates may spend nly a few minutes lking at the pster, s there shuld be a minimum f clutter, and a maximum f infrmative statements and enlightening graphics. Keep the amunt f text t a minimum - each blck f text shuld include n mre than a few sentences. Yu can use clumns f text r use text bxes. Use bullet pints, shrt sentences and sub-headings t separate text int easily digested chunks. Visual impact is imprtant. Graphics and clur images that supprt the text are vital t demnstrate yur findings, and help break up the text and make it attractive t read. A pster shuld tell a stry. It des nt need t cntain a lt f detail, just the main pints. Yu can add detail verbally when answering questins. It shuld be pssible t pin r attach the pster with Velcr strips t a pster bard. Printing yur pster Mst gd print cmpanies and shps will be able t print a pster fr yu at a cst f arund Yu can have yur pster laminated t prtect it. Submitting yur pster If yu wish t submit an entry t the Best Pster Cmpetitin please actin the fllwing pints: Befre 31 March 2016 Submit yur applicatin t present a pster by sending a brief paragraph summary f the wrk yu wuld like t highlight in yur pster t Claire Murray at: claire.murray@pifnline.rg.uk We will ntify yu within ne week t let yu knw if yur pster has been accepted.
