1 INVITATION Danish Business Delegation to Vietnam Headed by HRH Crown Prince Frederik visiting Vietnam on the occasion of the 40 year anniversary celebration of dip lomatic relations between Denmark and Vietnam.

2 You are hereby invited to join the Danish business delegation that will accompany HRH Crown Prince Frederik during his official visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the 40 year anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Vietnam. VIETNAM: AN ECONOMIC GROWTH HUB CENTRALLY LOCATED IN SOUTH EAST ASIA With an average annual GDP growth rate of 7% and an industrial growth rate of 14% over the last decade, Vietnam is one of Asia s fastest growing economies that offers unique market opportunities for companies looking to create new value. As the domestic market expands and purchasing power increases the ambition to integrate into the global economy intensifies. This is reflected in the government s ongoing efforts to develop legislation making Vietnam an attractive destination for foreign investments. This coupled with the willingness of Vietnamese business to collaborate with foreign partners offer enhanced opportunities to sell Danish products and know-how. Vietnam also remains a strong sourcing and production destination highly competitive on labour costs, young and adaptable workforce etc. The official visit presents itself as a unique marketing opportunity to showcase Danish technologies and key competences within a selected number of sectors where Denmark is recognized as a frontrunner of technological innovation and a market leader. It is also a unique opportunity for Danish companies to explore Vietnam s market potential and to connect with potential customers, authorities and decision makers. A series of business activities will be arranged during the visit that will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. These activities include sector specific seminars, site visits, Danish product exhibitions, business lunches and dinner parties. 3 CLEANTECH The impacts of climate change, increasing energy needs and inefficient use of energy technology and natural resources threaten the environment and energy security in Vietnam. Consequently, there is a growing focus on investments in the cleantech sector, particularly within energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies and waste management. Danish technology and know-how can help Vietnam overcome its energy needs and energy security challenges and offers major business opportunities for Danish cleantech companies. WATER The urban water supply and wastewater industry in Vietnam is under pressure: the lack of treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater is a growing concern and it causes pollution of rivers, the water supply and the environment. Danish innovative products and services for the water sector are today well-known for being climate friendly and energy efficient with low operating costs and high levels of automatisation. This underscores the large potential for business between Danish and Vietnamese companies. OIL & GAS A highly promising and essential sector for Vietnam s economy, the oil and gas sector accounts for 18-20% of Vietnam s total GDP and has an annual growth rate of approximately 20%. Vietnam s needs for foreign investments in technology and know-how in the exploration and production of oil and gas are apparent - this presents opportunities for Danish businesses in this sector. FOOD PRODUCTS Vietnam s rapid socio-economic development and subsequent increase in income levels is changing consumption patterns and customers demands in Vietnam s Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) market. The growing interest in products produced by foreignowned brands underscores the demand for high quality products. This tendency is closely linked to the issue of food security, a growing source of concern in Vietnam, as producers have difficulties adhering to international food standards. This offers new market opportunities for Danish FMCG companies who are industry leaders in producing high quality FMCGs while being global leaders in food safety technologies. DESIGN & LIFESTYLE International luxury brands are rapidly surfacing in the metropolitan areas of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. This reflects the increased buying power of a growing part of the population of Vietnam. International brand names generally appeal to the Vietnamese consumers since they are perceived to be of higher quality and to signal high status. Even though the majority of consumption is spent on grocery, the increased buying power for an ever larger part of the population has meant an increase in consumption in non-grocery retail. This has especially been noticeable in terms of clothing, electronics and home appliances (including furniture) as well as jewelry. The Vietnamese market for international design and lifestyle 3

4 brands is still in its infancy compared to other developed markets in Asia. This allows Danish companies an opportunity to enter a market which is not yet as competitive as more established markets and at the same time characterized by solid potential for growth. CSR CSR is increasingly acknowledged as a strategic instrument that can be integrated into company strategies and policies. This is particularly important for companies operating in an emerging market context, where corruption and low levels of occupational health and safety standards pose daily challenges. Danish companies are considered global frontrunners in implementing CSR and ensuring compliance, and they have proven that investments in CSR are worthwhile as it can help improve workers conditions while also improving product quality and increasing productivity in the supply chain. Strong collaboration opportunities therefore exist in sharing Danish know-how and experience with Vietnamese companies, who face increasing pressures of adhering to CSR standards set forth by a variety of stakeholders including the Vietnamese government, investors and consumers. THE BUSINESS DELEGATION Through participation in the Danish business delegation to Vietnam, you are offered a rare opportunity to access business executives and high level decision makers. In addition, you will get the opportunity to present your company as a valuable business partner to Vietnamese counterparts, while gaining high visibility through media coverage. The business delegation is open to all Danish companies and institutions with an interest in Vietnam. The opening of the business seminars in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will feature a special presentation on Corporate Social Responsibility. This will be followed by sector seminars within the following areas: Cleantech Water Oil & Gas (For Ho Chi Minh City, a field visit will be replaced with the business seminar) Food Products (Only in Ho Chi Minh City) Design & Lifestyle To allow your company maximum flexibility, the programme offers a choice of optional elements, depending on your prior experience with the Vietnamese market and the specific needs of your company. The official Danish business delegation visit is organized by the Confederation of Danish Industry, the Danish Agriculture & Food Council, the Embassy of Denmark in Hanoi and the Trade Council of Denmark in cooperation with Export Promotion Denmark. THE CONCEPT Basic package Company presentation in the official presentation brochure - Targeted direct mailing of official presentation brochure with cover letter from the Embassy of Denmark to potential Vietnam ese partners. Welcome briefing in Hanoi and arrival briefing in Ho Chi Minh City. Participation in business seminars in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City including: - Official openings followed by high-level speakers from Denmark and Vietnam - Sector seminars or Product Displays. - Business lunches in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with participation of up to 5 guests per company per city (extra guests at additional costs) - Official dinners in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, participation of Danish delegation and number of possible participants will be confirmed later. - Debriefing Ho Chi Minh City For companies within the Food Product sector the above package is only in Ho Chi Minh City. 4

5 Companies, whose products fall outside the sectors included in the sector seminars, may choose to have their products displayed in the official business lounge as part of the basic package instead of participating in the sector seminars. Companies wishing to include both of these elements in their visit may purchase the product display package at an additional cost. Guaranteed Company Exposure To ensure that participating companies receive the greatest possible exposure to the Vietnamese business community, the Embassy of Denmark in Hanoi will send out invitations to potential Vietnamese participants as well as promote the event to other relevant stakeholders in cooperation with local Vietnamese partners. Each invited Vietnamese guest will receive an invitation package containing an invitation letter and the company presentation brochure introducing all the participating companies and organizations. This offers you a great opportunity to strengthen your existing Vietnamese contacts and/or invite potential future customers or business partners. Companies wishing to invite more contacts can purchase extra guest seats at an additional cost. See price list. Sector Seminars The sector seminars will give all Danish companies in the same sector the opportunity to meet and promote themselves to relevant local players. 5

The programme for the sector seminars will be based on the profile, compositions and wishes of the participants. The business activities within Food Products will be based on match making with new and existing customers. ADDITIONAL INDIVIDUAL OPTIONS Individual Company Seminars/ Presentations Within the common framework, you may wish to hold your own individual company seminar. Here, you will be able to create your own programme and focus. Individual seminars typically run for one hour and all companies are welcome regardless of sector as individual programmes can be set up. Companies must deliver invitation lists to the Embassy, who will then invite your guests to the seminar. Pre-arranged B2B Contact Meetings B2B contact meetings between your company and potential Vietnamese partners can be arranged as a tailored part of your programme. If you decide to include B2B meetings as part of your visit to Vietnam, you will be contacted directly by the Embassy of Denmark in Hanoi to discuss the desired content and extent of the meetings. Product Display at the Conference A business lounge with a Danish decor will be set up at the conference facilities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and will serve as an informal meeting place. Here, it will be possible for small groups to meet and share the facilities during short meetings. Your company may have a small display of your products in the business lounge. Two company banners will be supplied as a background for this. If you wish to have a product display, please indicate this on your registration form and you will be contacted directly for further details. Sector Specific Site Tours Sector specific site tours to relevant companies, government and international organizations can be arranged with the aim of giving the participating companies an overview of their sector of interest in Vietnam and provide an opportunity to gain valuable insight in the Vietnamese market.
