15 Disc jet plasma source Contoured, homogeous plasma activation DBD principle (dielectric barrier discharge) 30 C Process temperatures in the range of 30 to 60 C permit the treatment of even temperature-sensitive substrates Fields of application: activation, functionalization, cleaning Precise-contour application of the discharge at cavities and undercuts (up to about 20 mm) Generation of reactive species directly on the substrate surface Current working diameter (treatment area) between 20 and 80 mm (upscalable) Slide discharges with a depth accessibility of 1 to 30 mm (Jet even up to 60 mm) Wide range of possibilities for the treatment of different materials such as thin glass, polymer and metal foils, wood-based materials, veneers, paper, etc. Currently realized processing speeds between 1 to 35 m/min.

16 Application example Degreasing of metal surfaces reference (about 100 x 200 µm) plasma treated REM-photographs of an aluminum foil (with rolling oil) before and after the cleaning process by Disc-Jet at a treatment speed of 1 m/min. The rolling marks of the aluminum surface are clearly visible again after the plasma treatment (using compressed air as process gas).
