Having built effective programmes and strong partnerships to help young people into jobs and self-employment in the United Kingdom, public and private organisations around the world have been turning to Prince s Trust International in their search for solutions to youth unemployment and to learn from the experience of The Prince s Trust in helping young people into work. Context of the Role This role was created in recognition of the vital role marketing, brand and communications play in this young charity. This role will be responsible for crafting strategies for Prince s Trust International Marketing, Social Media, Advertising, Communications and Creative Page 1 of 6
plans on an international scale. This is a varied role that holds responsibility for the development and implementation of our brand and communication strategy. Responsible for external and internal communications, crisis PR and proactive brand development, events and social media, this role will continue to build on the foundations of what will be a global brand whilst also ensuring it remains firmly rooted in the identity of the rapidly developing Prince's Trust Group of charities. Your work will raise the profile of our cause by delivering engaging communications for our supporters and key external stakeholders and realise our strategy to achieve sustainable outcomes in education, training and employment for young people worldwide. Reports to: Responsible for: Senior Head of Fundraising x1 weekly 2-day volunteer *Growing a small team in time dependant on funding Budget: directly responsible for a budget in excess of 100,000 including event management that sits within the budget of the wider Development Team. The Programmes Team (London and field-based), and wider Prince s Trust International team Prince s Trust UK Communications, Fundraising, Events, and Finance departments Relevant staff within the wider Prince's Trust Group Other Prince s Trust Head Office Functions and Departments as required Stakeholders and partners as required Accountability: This is a key role that supports our mission and organisation development during a crucial period of growth. This role will sit within the Development Department, but the role will provide support across the rest of the organisation as appropriate. Detailed Responsibilities: Strategy development Working in close collaboration with Prince s Trust UK's Marketing and Communications Team and wider Group colleagues, to establish, implement and maintain the Prince s Trust International communications and brand strategy. This is to include both an overarching global and country-specific communications strategies and protocols for use of our brand globally. Brand management Working in close collaboration with Prince s Trust, to create protocols for the use of our brand globally. This is to include the implementation and review of brand guidelines, key materials and messages for marketing, operations and fundraising as well as supporting the Page 2 of 6
use of specific guidance for the use of our logo and name in written materials issued by and to partners. To personally lead the delivery of PTI programme materials for international use, repurposing those of the Prince s Trust wherever possible and building on our early collateral. Communications Responsible for the development of PTI s communications in support of fundraising and donor engagement. Developing key communications such as the Annual Impact Report and programme reviews. The role will be responsible for building a content library to include case studies, reports, photos, podcasts/videos etc. that can be used by internal and external stakeholders. To support high quality and effective internal communications methods for staff, secondees, and volunteers as well as key governance and funding stakeholders including Trustees, Founding Patrons, and Members of the Global Advisory Board. Promoting and aligning Prince's Trust International within the Prince's Trust Group To facilitate information sharing within Prince s Trust International and Prince s Trust to ensure alignment across all communications. This includes the maintenance and further development of the newly developed Prince s Trust International website as well as the intranet and other internal communications to ensure key updates are shared with the wider team. Proactive press and media Working in close collaboration with the Prince s Trust UK's Marketing and Communications Team and wider Group colleagues, to create protocols and systems for proactive media work, including on and offline PR toolkits. To personally draft press releases and content for proactive use by the wider team. Social Media marketing To establish, implement and maintain a social media strategy, maximising alignment and synergy with the Prince s Trust Marketing and Communications team. To maintain the Prince s Trust International website and growing social media presence. Events To personally lead the creation and management of all events held by Prince s Trust International, in collaboration with Senior Head of Fundraising, to ensure that they enhance our reputation and meet their objectives. This can include support management of the guest lists, logistics and budget associated with these events. Crisis PR and reactive media handling To work with the Chief Executive, Head of Health & Safety and Safeguarding and Prince s Trust UK's Marketing and Communications team to implement and revise if necessary, the recently produced crisis PR plan aligned to our serious incident management process Page 3 of 6
To maintain responsibility for the updating of the risk register in relation to brand and reputation and to proactively update processes and materials as required to mitigate these risks Management This is an amazing opportunity to leverage the powerful brand established from PTUK and develop a new strategy for our international brand and profile. Dependant on funding, in time this post holder will be able to build a small team. To recruit, induct and mentor specialist volunteers as required, in line with the Prince s Trust volunteering policy. PERSON SPECIFICATION Criteria Essential Desirable Skills and Knowledge: Experience: Highly-developed communication skills (especially writing, editing, and proof-reading), and a track record of deploying these skills to adapt to a variety of audiences. Interpersonal skills, with an ability to relate to a wide range of people including individuals at senior level Ability to work proactively and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and ability to distil information into key points working with expert colleague to convey complex stories in an accessible way Confident IT skills, including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office to enable the production of visually appealing and professional Word and Excel documents. Data management skills Highly organised, ability to work under pressure, overcoming obstacles and managing high and/or fluctuating workloads to meet deadlines. Demonstrable experience of website optimisation and working with website content management systems Demonstrable experience using a range of social media channels to drive profile, create and nurture online communities.
