Job Description Job title: Social Media Advertising Officer Hours: 35 hours per week including out of hours duty working inclusive of some weekends and public holidays Responsible to: Performance Marketing Manager Works with/key contact: All Marketing and Commercial colleagues Fundraising Operations Communications External agencies and suppliers Location: London, although travel to all 3 sites will be required Duration: Permanent Responsible for: N/A Salary: 27,950 per annum Established in 1860, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home aims to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help, caring for them until their owners or loving new homes can be found, no matter how long it takes. We are champions for, and supporters of, vulnerable dogs and cats, determined to create lasting changes for animals in our society. Every year, we care for over 7,000 dogs and cats. In 2016 Battersea reached its highest ever position in the Charity Brand Index at 14th, we are also firmly established within the top 10 in the YouGov UK CharityIndex. Trustees and Directors have approved significant investment for the new Marketing and Commercial directorate in 2017. This will transform the capability of the marketing function and enable the development of a new brand, marketing and digital strategy. Responsibility for brand and creative will sit in a new Brand team; responsibility for content, social media and online community development and management will sit in a new Content & Communities team; responsibility for marketing campaign project management, the website, search and display, email marketing and bespoke digital projects will sit in a greatly enhanced Digital team. These teams will require inspirational leadership and a number of marketing specialists to take on key roles. Main purpose of the role To engage with current and new supporters with the aim of increasing rehoming, financial income and strengthening key audiences emotional connection with the Home.
Overall objectives To assist the Performance Marketing Manager in driving a results-based approach to delivering organisation-wide objectives To manage and deliver paid social media activity that support Battersea s vision, values, and strategic plan Maximising Battersea s profile and promoting calls to action for campaigns, fundraising, events and appeals across Battersea s paid social activity Responsibilities Approx % of time 1. Planning and managing Battersea s social media advertising to support brand 30% campaigns and the overall digital advertising strategy 2. Working closely with the Content & Communities team to procure content and write copy 20% for social media adverts 3. Monitoring and reporting on social media advertising activity, presenting key findings, 20% performance against targets and actionable insights to other team members 4. Managing budgets and phasing of spend, developing and tracking timing plans 10% 5. Moderation and management of 24/7 nature of digital activity with a strong focus on risk management 10% 6. Policing internal and external stakeholders, monitoring and inputting into Battersea s social media policy and guidelines. 5% 7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrable experience in writing for social media Advanced knowledge of campaign tagging, reporting, digital KPIs and engagement measures, with proven experience of using analytical skills to identify trends and translate data into actionable insight. Experience using Google Analytics and other channel and web and channel analytics tools, including report filtering, data segmentation and creating custom reports. A creative and flexible approach to problem solving and prioritising a high workload Meticulous attention to detail Strong communications, interpersonal and consultative skills and the proven ability to build relationships, work constructively and collaboratively with colleagues who are not digitally savvy Passion for staying abreast of new developments in social media platforms and technologies, digital communications, and content marketing, able to evidence this and the desire to embrace change and help colleagues do the same Ability to prioritise and deliver high quality work with minimum supervision, to be able to multi-task under pressure Ability to think creatively and encourage creativity and innovation amongst colleagues Exceptional problem solving and decision making skills with a good mix of evidence based decisions balanced with pragmatism, innovation, flexibility and common sense Able to promote an understanding of, and a commitment to the vision, mission and values of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home Desirable Not for profit experience Experience of training colleagues on social media marketing to enable them to make informed decisions Position in the team
