RECOMMENDATON: THAT the Mayr be authrized t send a letter t the Delta Chamber f Cmmerce, Ladner Business Assciatin, Tsawwassen Business mprvement Assciatin, and Nrth Delta businesses encuraging them and their members t supprt the 'Buy Lcal in Delta' campaign and thanking them fr their participatin. PURPOSE: The purpse f this reprt is t prvide an update regarding the nvest in Delta Mayr's Standing Cmmittee. BACKGROUND: At the February 23, 2015 Regular Meeting, Cuncil apprved the terms f reference fr the nvest in Delta Mayr's Standing Cmmittee. The Cmmittee's purpse is t prvide advice n implementatin measures t prmte industrial, cmmercial, and residential investment thrughut Delta, with the bjective f ensuring the lng-term vibrancy and attractiveness f Delta's cmmunities. The Cmmittee is als respnsible fr the crdinatin and versight f the Suth Delta Sustainability Strategy. Staff track issues raised by the Cmmittee and reprt back t the Cmmittee at each meeting regarding the status f these issues. Reprts are prvided t Cuncil abut issues raised by the nvest in Delta Mayr's Standing Cmmittee as required and an update reprt is prvided annually. DSCUSSON: The nvest in Delta Mayr's Standing Cmmittee was active in 2017, leading key initiatives and prviding advice n imprtant issues affecting investment and develpment in Delta. n 2017, the Cmmittee:

Breakfast attendees heard frm Mayr Lis E. Jacksn, Gerge V. Harvie, City Manager, and ther plitical and business leaders. Fr phtgraphs f the event, see Attachment 'A'... Held a meeting n June 21 that included a bus tur f ptential investment and develpment lcatins in Nrth Delta and a meeting with key members f the Nrth Delta business and develpment cmmunity. The Cmmittee discussed market factrs influencing investment and develpment decisins and was able t hear frm external surces abut the bright future f Nrth Delta, in part because f Delta's effrts related t bth the cst and time implicatins assciated with getting apprvals frm City Hall. Held a regular meeting n Nvember 7 at City Hall. Over the year, the Cmmittee accmplished the fllwing: nitiated and versaw a 'Buy Lcal in Delta' campaign that cntinued and imprved n the first such campaign launched in 2016. The 2017 'Buy Lcal in Delta' campaign began in Nvember t cincide with the beginning f the Christmas shpping seasn and is designed t supprt the many events put n by Delta's lcal business cmmunity. See Attachment 'B' fr phtgraphs f sme f the campaign features, which include: A refreshed graphic that is cnsistent with Delta's branding and ffers versatility fr use acrss multiple media platfrms. Advertisements installed in bus shelters wned by Delta. Advertisements in Delta's lcal newspapers. Scial media psts featuring the #BuyLcalDelta hashtag and the new graphic, many f which are scheduled t supprt seasnal cmmunity events. 'Buy Lcal in Delta' signs at six key farm lcatins in place f crp identificatin signs during the grwing ffseasn. Cling film signs t be placed in windws f lcal businesses. These signs have been prvided t the Delta Chamber f Cmmerce, Ladner Business Assciatin, and Tsawwassen Business mprvement Assciatin fr distributin t their members. The signs have als been hand delivered by staff t individual businesses in Nrth Delta. The signs serve t tie the businesses int the larger 'Buy Lcal in Delta' campaign by using the same branding.
