JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title Senior Fundraising Officer, Schools & Youth Grade 4 Department Reporting to Marketing Schools and Youth Manager PURPOSE OF ROLE Drive and implement fundraising strategy to maximise income generated from Schools & Youth audiences for Comic Relief campaigns. (Comic Relief campaigns are Red Nose Day and Sport Relief. Schools & Youth audiences include: nursery groups, primary schools, secondary schools, youth groups up to age 18.) SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES FUNDRAISING STRATEGY AND PLANNING Work with the Schools & Youth Manager to agree overall fundraising targets for core Comic Relief campaigns Work with the Schools & Youth Audience Analyst to provide fundraising insights for Schools & Youth campaign strategies Use audience insights and research to develop a fundraising strategy that maximises all opportunities for generating income from Schools & Youth audiences for Comic Relief campaigns Implement Schools & Youth fundraising strategies and activity plans to meet campaign objectives and targets Track and report on Schools & Youth income during and after campaign, feeding in learnings and insights to maximise opportunities to increase fundraising income Drive strategy for the communication and use of fundraising journeys across marketing materials (print and digital) to maximise income Drive new and innovative approaches to Schools & Youth fundraising in Comic Relief campaigns, increasing response rates and average gift values Drive and implement an effective recognition and reward scheme for Schools & Youth audiences 1 P a g e Date updated\2011-02-18
Maintain an up-to-date insight into developments in voluntary sector fundraising/marketing, particularly in relation to youth audiences, and use this understanding to inform overall plans and identify new opportunities Ensure that all fundraising communications activities fully comply with the requirements of FRSB, IOF, Charity Commission and other regulatory bodies FUNDRASING MATERIALS Develop fundraising tools, mechanisms and incentives (online and offline) ensuring all communication is audience focused, maximises value and delivers a high return on investment. Ensure that online fundraising systems are clear, simple and work for Schools & Youth audiences to maximise value and address audience needs Work with Campaign Marketing Fundraising Officers and creative teams to generate inspiring and effective fundraising ideas for Schools & Youth audiences Work with the Schools & Youth Senior Marketing Officer and Senior Digital Officer to deliver inspiring, clear and informed briefs for fundraising materials Work with Schools & Youth Senior Digital Marketing Officer to ensure all online income-generating opportunities are maximized for Schools & Youth Audiences, particularly related to selling merchandise Oversee all payment-related materials ensuring there are clear, simple and trackable ways for Schools & Youth audiences to pay in money SCHOOLS & YOUTH ENQUIRIES AND CUSTOMER INTERFACES Ensure that adequate systems and policies exist for handling Schools & Youth enquiries with appropriate levels of customer care and professionalism Ensure complaints are dealt with in line with FRSB and Comic Relief policies Work with the Schools & Youth Audience Analyst to ensure that systems and processes are in place to maintain relationships and store information about Schools & Youth fundraisers Oversee the collection of Schools & Youth fundraising stories to be used in campaign materials Ensure that fundraising agreements with key Schools & Youth 2 P a g e Date updated\2011-02-18
fundraisers are managed in an appropriate way, adhering to internal policies and industry standards of best practice LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT Line manage the Schools & Youth fundraising subteam, providing support to ensure their work is of the highest quality, delivered on time and within budget Develop the potential of team members by carrying out active performance management and providing constructive feedback and guidance Represent the Schools & Youth team in relevant meetings to ensure that our audiences and their fundraising needs are at the heart of decision making GENERAL Undertake any relevant work as delegated by the Schools & Youth Manager Be self servicing and undertake all administration as required Be an active and constructive member of the Schools & Youth team Work across the organisation to ensure all activities reflect the values of Comic Relief and are developed with integrity Keep abreast of fundraising developments to ensure we identify and take advantage of new opportunities Ensure we express diversity across our marketing and fundraising materials and communications 3 P a g e Date updated\2011-02-18
EXPERIENCE WHY IMP. Extensive experience of fundraising from the public or/and Schools & Youth audiences Must be able to understand donor motivation and retention, conversion and development tactics. Bring strong and credible fundraising knowledge. Apply fundraising insights to Comic Relief campaigns to create and implement successful mechanics to motivate teachers, children and young people to fundraise in school. Extensive experience of fundraising strategic development and new income generation Extensive experience of tracking and monitoring fundraising performance and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data Management experience Extensive experience of developing integrated fundraising campaigns across all media Experience of managing external relationships with a range of stakeholders Research and develop strategy plans and ideas to deliver our Schools & Youth fundraising campaigns. Deliver against agreed plans/timetable and ensure plans are successfully implemented. Identify cost-effective ways to maximise return on campaign spend and fundraising income. Create fundraising targets, identify trends in audience behavior and develop robust income projections. Manage fundraising subteam. Write and implement comprehensive plans and timelines for all fundraising activities. Comic Relief works across all media. Develop sustainable relationships with schools, outside agencies/individuals while researching and nurturing new relationships and ensuring systems are in place to manage them.
