10 Agenda 1 Short presentation of REWE Group 2 Product safety and REWE brand 3 4 Product safety and sustainability: Function of standards Product safety and sustainability: Function of standards REWE Group expectance to GLOBAL GAP standard Residue monitoring strategy especially for high risk or sensitive products; Possible acceptance by officials Unlike others, Global Gap doesn't define own risk-orientated minimum requirements for MRL Anlaysis on farm and doesn't have own monitoring program (Therefore in some cases QS standard outside Germany required) Corporate platform residue data base will announce any deviation on MRLs to standards automatically: Challenge for standard's risk management in the future! Active Support Quick and proactive support in emergency cases (i.e. quaternary ammonium salts) GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat 10
11 Product safety and sustainability: Function of standards REWE Group expectance to GLOBAL GAP standard Continuous Improvement Even on Minor Must criteria, a continous improvement program is needed: Missing regular cleaning of stores and equipment (minor must) can't be accepted after several inspections (EHEC) Providing a high international standard with reliable audits, sanctions, internal control and transparency Sufficient control on farm level: Risk-based audits and restrictive control of quality management for group audits needed. Identification of farm location covered by certificates (Multisides?). Efficiancy High level benchmark and cross approval to avoid double certification and costs Direct clarification and sanctions required Product safety and sustainability: Function of standards REWE Group expectance to GLOBAL GAP standard Future of Agriculture Marketing of agricultural products in the future needs more than product quality and safety. Retailers have to take responsibility for ethical-social and ecological production. Retailers will need common, reliable sustainability standards. GLOBAL GAP Water modul, GRASP etc as voluntary moduls are first steps towards common understanding of sustainable agriculture. GRASP will be compulsory for REWE brand fruit and vegetables GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat 11
