4 Under the leadership of His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the State of Qatar is witnessing unprecedented and comprehensive growth on all fronts and across all industries, laying the foundation for a new era of progress and development. Over the past number of years, Qatar s chemical and petrochemical industry has received special attention from our leadership and government. This has resulted in a concerted effort to grow the industry and enhance its role in the further development and diversification of our national economy, increasing our country s exports and carrying the Made in Qatar label all over the world. In 2013, Muntajat began the process of taking responsibility for the sales and marketing of Qatar s chemical and petrochemical products to meet growing international demand. By the end of the year, Muntajat had exported 7.7 million tonnes of ammonia, urea, melamine, polyethylenes, linear alkyl benzene and other products to more than 80 countries. We seek to further invest in and enhance our leading position in the energy industry to raise the global profile of our downstream sector, and strengthen our position among the world s leading producers and exporters of chemicals and petrochemicals. Aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, the downstream strategy reflects our leadership s desire to see the sector play a pivotal role in serving the national economy. We have ambitious investment plans for the industry in the coming years as we work to increase Qatar s downstream production, enhance its product offerings and spearhead the policy of economic diversification. To maximise the investment, it became advantageous to establish an entity to consolidate the marketing and distribution of Qatar s downstream products under one banner. Muntajat was created to meet this strategic need and to position the State s products competitively in the global markets by capitalising on operational efficiencies and economies of scale that the producing entities could not command individually. With a firm dedication to expand our footprint and deliver efficiencies, Muntajat increased its exports to 10 million tonnes in 2014 reaching customers in over 120 countries. In its first two years, Muntajat s outstanding performance created significant value for the producing entities as well as customers, who benefited from the comprehensive service solutions the company developed. These achievements proved that consolidating the marketing, sales, and distribution functions of the State s chemical and petrochemical products under one entity was a wise and necessary step for our industry. Qatar s downstream sector will continue to create value for decades to come. It will reinforce our efforts to diversify the economy and expand the export portfolio. The coming years will require further cooperation and concerted efforts among key industry players to align with the Nation s plans, thus cementing Qatar s position as one of the world s most significant producers of chemicals and petrochemicals. 6 7

We have gone from being a start-up company to a globally desk respected marketer of chemicals and petrochemicals in record time, achieving profitability in the very first year of operation. In the process, Muntajat has strengthened the position of Qatar s downstream industry on the world stage and is contributing to the diversification of the economy. We are also focused on delivering value to the community at home in Qatar through social and human development programmes that offer a world of opportunities to the local community. From the of the CEO Chief One by one, Muntajat has assumed the marketing and distribution responsibilities from Qatar s producing entities. We now represent 100% of chemicals, polymers and fertilisers produced in The State of Qatar. The handovers have been effective and efficient so that customers worldwide have experienced seamless continuity of supply and service. This wouldn t have been possible without the support and expertise of the producing entities which bring more than 40 years of experience in the field. The demand for chemicals and petrochemicals is global by nature. There is a growing interest for the Made in Qatar chemicals, polymers and fertilisers in developing markets. Muntajat s focus has shifted towards building scale and expanding our reach through the establishment of our global marketing network, Muntajat B.V. We inaugurated the Muntajat B.V Headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands on 2nd December, We have already opened 19 marketing offices around the world, which currently service customers in more than 120 countries. Muntajat continues to develop and enhance its marketing and distribution operations as it delivers on its promise to becoming the gateway to Qatar s chemical and petrochemical products and fulfil its vision of becoming a world leader in the field. 9 Caustic Soda Ethylene Dichloride Vinyl Chloride Monomer 1-Hexene Hydrochloric Acid Linear Alkyl Benzene A solution of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) in water. It is used in many industries as a strong chemical base and also in the manufacturing of pulp and paper, textiles, drinking water, soaps and detergents as well as drain cleaner. Ethylene Dichloride (EDC), is a chlorinated hydrocarbon, mainly used to produce Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM), the major precursor for PVC production. Produced by the cracking of Ethylene Dichloride (EDC), nearly all Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) is converted into PVC or vinyl copolymers. PVC is among the largest volume of plastics produced around the world. 1- Hexene is a colourless liquid with the formula C6H12 that is classified as an alpha-olefin. It is primarily used as a comonomer in the production of HDPE and Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE). Hydrochloric Acid is used in numerous applications from water treatment to food processing, steel pickling, corn syrup production, brine treatment, oil well acidizing and calcium chloride production. LAB has emerged as the dominant precursor in biodegradable detergents across many industries. Our superior quality product has high sulfonability, improved surfactant properties, lighter colour of sulfonic acid and excellent detergent performance. Heavy Alkyl Benzene Methanol Methyl Tertiary-Butyl Ether (MTBE) Normal Alpha Olefins (NAO) Pyrolysis Gasoline (Pygas) Ethylene Heavy Alkyl Benzene is used in the manufacturing of lube oils, thermic fluids, refrigeration oils, textile auxiliaries and electrical oils. Sodium and calcium sulfonated derivatives of Heavy Alkylate are reckoned for their high shelf life, stability under different climatic conditions and effectiveness as a surface active agent. A clean energy source as well as a raw material for some of the everyday items we use, Methanol is used within the petrochemical industry as a raw material for the manufacturing of Formaldehyde, Acetic Acid, MTBE, Solvents, MMA, and is increasingly used in Gasoline/Fuel, DME and MTO/MTP. MTBE is used as a gasoline additive that provides clean burning fuel to reduce the tail gas pollution generated by motor vehicles. At the same time it eliminates the need for blending Tera Ethyl Lead in the gasoline. Normal Alpha Olefins or their derivatives are used extensively as polyethylene comonomers, plasticizers, synthetic motor oils, lubricants, automotive additives, surfactants, paper sizing agents, and in a wide range of specialty applications. Pygas is a naphtharange product with a high aromatics content used either for gasoline blending or distilled to separate it into its components, including benzene, which is extracted for uses such as the production of polystyrene for the packaging industry. Ethylene is one of the building blocks of hydrocarbon and petrochemicals. It is a colourless flammable gas. Ethylene is widely used in the chemical industry, and its worldwide production exceeds that of any other organic compound. The different polyethylenes produced by Qatar s downstream sector offer various features such as toughness, flexibility, durability and transparency, making them suitable for export all over the world for use in packaging applications, moulding and dozens of other uses. olymers 18 19

11 Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) LLDPE is a polyethylene with good impact and puncture resistance, flexibility and high elongation under stress. The main application for LLDPE is films and sheets, but it is also used in injection-moulding, rotomoulding, wire and cables. Marketed under the Lotrène trademark, Qatofin s high-quality product range focuses primarily on film applications. Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) This major thermoplastic is transparent, robust and relatively flexible. Its excellent characteristics make it suitable for use in films and sheets as well as extrusion- coating, injection-moulding, wires, cables and other processes. QAPCO s LDPE is marketed under the Lotrène trademark. Muntajat markets a full range of LDPE for the production of industrial and consumer films as well as one coating and two injection-moulding grades. High Density Polyethylene (HDPE / MDPE) HDPE is one of today s major thermoplastics and the most important polyethylene. HDPE is used worldwide in a large variety of applications such as rigid containers, toys, film products, sheet products, injectionmoulded articles, pressure and non-pressure pipes, geomembranes, automotive parts and fuel tanks, to name just a few. In Qatar, HDPE is produced by Q-Chem and Q-Chem II. The product range is focusing on blow moulding, film, geomembrane and pipe application segments. Selected examples of specific end-use applications are: dairy bottles, containers for household chemicals, large blow-moulded drums, industrial liners, bags and packaging film, geomembranes, pond liners, pipes and fittings. Melamine Made from urea, Melamine is fire-retardant and heat tolerant. It is used in the synthesis of Melamine Formaldehyde (MF) and Melamine Urea Formaldehyde (MUF) resins, surface coating, paper, textile treatment and for moulding compounds. 13 Ammonia Aqueous Ammonia Urea (Granular, Prilled) Urea Formaldehyde Ammonia is extensively used in production of fertiliser products; when applied to soil, it improves crop yields. Ammonia is also used in fermentation processes and as an antimicrobial agent for food products. Its other applications are in chemical industry, mining explosives, healthcare, and fisheries etc. Aqueous Ammonia is mostly used in power plants for denoxing purposes (to neutralise flue gases and to leave the environment with fresher air) and fisheries etc. Urea is a solid fertiliser containing 46.6% Nitrogen. It is produced by the reaction of Ammonia and Carbon Dioxide under high pressure, both feedstocks being supplied by the Ammonia plant. Urea is mainly used as Fertiliser. Other uses are for laboratory purpose, chemical industry, etc. Urea Formaldehyde Condensate is used for treatment of urea in the fertiliser industry. Other uses are as resins, adhesives in particle board, plywood and insulating materials, press fabric film, leather, ceramics, insulation foam, stabiliser in gasoline, corrosion inhibitor and in the pharmaceutical industry etc Contact us at: Fertilisers@muntajat.qa

Established 1991 Production: - Methanol: 980 KTA - Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE): 610 KTA Applications: Cleaner-burning fuels, reducing vehicle tail-pipe emissions Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO) One of the world s largest single site producers of urea and ammonia fertilisers, QAFCO is helping increase crop yields worldwide. Established 1969 Production: - Granular and Prilled Urea: 5800 KTA - Ammonia: 3800 KTA Applications: Agricultural fertilisers Qatar Melamine Company (QMC) The plant is the largest Melamine Plant in the Middle East. QMC is located in Mesaieed Industrial City. Established 2006 Production: - Melamine: 60 KTA Gulf Formaldehyde Company (GFC) Chemical and Petrochemical Producing Entities Gulf Formaldehyde Company manufactures Urea Formaldehyde Concentrate (UFC). The company operates as a subsidiary of Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO). Established 2003 Seef Limited The plant s primary output is an important intermediate chemical in the production of surfactants, which are essential to the manufacturing of detergents. Established 2004 Production: - Linear Alkylbenzene: 100 KTA - Normal Paraffin: 80 KTA - Benzene: 36 KTA - Heavy Alkyl Benzene: 3.5 KTA Applications: Biodegradable detergents, in particular laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, industrial cleaners, and household cleaners; lubrication oils and refrigerant oils. Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) Supplied under the Lotrène brand, QAPCO s LDPE is exported by Muntajat to factories all over the world to make many of the essentials of everyday life. Established 1974 Production: - Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE): 700 KTA - Sulphur: 70 KTA - Hydrogenated Propane/Butane Mix: 55 KTA - Hydrogenated Pygasoline: 45 KTA Applications: Heavy duty bags, shrink films, pouches, freezer bags, shopping bags and laundry bags. Qatofin Company Limited (Qatofin) Supplied under the Lotrène brand, Qatofin s production of Linear Low Density Polyethylene is a valuable addition to Qatar s portfolio of polyethylene polymers. Qatar Chemical Company (Q-Chem) and (Q-Chem II) Supplied under MARLEX, a world-class integrated petrochemical plant capable of producing high-quality polymers, Q-Chem uses state-of-the-art technology to produce important plastics and chemicals. Established 2002 and 2005 Production Urea Formaldehyde Concentrate (UFC): 56 KTA Qatar Vinyl Company (QVC) The company produces VCM, which is an important intermediate industrial chemical used primarily to produce PVC for the world market.
