3 OBJECTIVES information exchange and experiences sharing in understanding AB identify effective tools and techniques to promote greater public awareness: benefits and risks discuss transparent approaches to public policy development built policy capacity for safe introduction and use of AB products. PROGRAM 1. What we know? 2. How we find out what we want to know? 3. How do we talk to the public? 4. What we need to know if communication is to be effective? 5. What do we do with what we know? 6. What will be face in the future? 7. What does it all mean? 2

INFLUENCING PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF AGRICULTURAL BIOTECHNOLOGY: A BEST PRACTICES GUIDE This guide must reflect what was discussed in the WPPAB Feedback input from Member Economies Should meet all Member Economies needs Some final remarks Public Perception on AB remains as an important issue in both developed and developing Member Economies Important differences: - Awareness of current people - knowledge among policy makers (government), educated people need different approaches 6
