4 Customer Stories Customers Can Focus on Core Business Managing over 10,850 desktops and devices We help our clients serve 12 million citizens without needing to employ specialists or invest in IT kit, says Reinhold Harnisch, managing director of krz. With emergency and security services and first responders relying on its infrastructure every day, success for krz is founded on two business pillars: security and customer satisfaction. Thankfully we can always count on our Cisco network. It s simple to manage because we can easily add new customers and sites, Harnisch adds. And we ve saved money and time by consolidating previous standalone services, such as fire and security alarm systems, monitoring of wiring, and other components, in one single network for our two locations in Lemgo. 5 Customer Stories Boosting Efficiency and Customer Experience Some clients would have to drive more than one hour to visit our office. That s not very sustainable, so we changed it. Now, 75 percent of our board meetings occur over Cisco Videoconferencing. Reinhold Harnisch Managing Director krz Saving travel time with video conferencing technology Building on this network foundation, krz introduced unified communications to further reduce customers costs through centralized helplines, and travel and cost-saving videoconferencing. It just takes the push of a button on a Cisco device to launch a video call. krz staff, partners and clients share applications and content, ranging from project plans and technical drawings to presentations and reports. Communicating as naturally as they would in person, every expression, gesture, and nuance is clearly visible. 5

6 Taking Services to Citizens Doorsteps Customer Stories Soon citizens could benefit too While some people feel comfortable using contact centers and web portals, many still prefer face to-face interaction with public services. However, for those in rural areas, traveling into the city can be an expensive inconvenience. That could change soon. Citizens will be able to save time and money by visiting their nearest service center and using video-enabled booths, Harnisch explains. There they can talk face-to-face to administrators, for instance about benefit claims or building applications. In turn, the local administrators could offer services everywhere in their area without having to invest in additional staff. 6

7 Customer Stories Clearing the Path to Wireless Networking Expanding the Wi-Fi offer for participating municipalities There is a pressing demand for WLAN in the participating municipalities locations. Working with Cisco partner xevit, krz is rolling out wireless-as-aservice to open up the wireless digital world to its clients and their guests. Our clients can get tailor-made and cost-optimized wireless, says Harnisch. They can rent wireless controllers and access points and boost security with Cisco Identity Services Engine. And for support they can call on their krz contacts and use their usual access. The move will also make it easier for town halls, libraries, and other city buildings to offer access to the digital world without the upfront expense of buying and maintaining wireless infrastructure. With citizens and employees able to get easily online, queues get shorter, processes are streamlined, and satisfaction ratings of administrations rise. We can t build wireless and digital infrastructure with cheap hardware that breaks or is easily hacked.
