3 Started using SAP Training & Events Management (TEM) in 2002 Implemented District wide with SAP HR module Used for student Training Management administration and tracking ITS Interface for student booking and qualification status checks were available (but not widely used) Started using SAP Training Events Management (TEM) in 2002 Developed a custom Microsoft.NET Application for Qualification check & status (Qual Matrix) Linked with Plateau Learning Management System (LMS), for Computer Based Training (CBT) & on-line exams Interfaced with two Nuclear required LMS systems outside of NPPD called Nantel and PADS 3

6 Maintain the strict tracking and qualification requirements of our Nuclear facility Nebraska law requires record keeping of exam results, including question asked and student response Record keeping complicated by Nebraska requirement of microfiche Nuclear requirement is for record keeping for life of plant plus 10 years SAP Authoring Environment (exams) were not robust enough to meet Nuclear requirements No Proctored exam capability Could not easily deliver both online and paper exams System was not very user friendly Question types were not diverse enough 6

SAP was already our system of record for Training Perception could integrate with SAP via the SAP Connector Perception could handle proctored exams Perception could provide PDF reports for microfiche Perception provided simple web access for SME s and Instructors Perception expanded our available question types More multimedia questions Mathematical questions Ability to use Questionmark Secure for our highest level of security exams Print & Scan capability for classroom delivered examinations Replace our current evaluation software with Perception surveys 7

Integrating QM and SAP LSO had never been done by anyone The technical support from QM and SAP was limited Documentation on the SAP Connector was limited and not technical enough Our existing data had more issues than we anticipated 9

10 SAP Connector is four (4) web-services CreateandScheduleParticipant DeleteScheduleList GetAccessScheduleNotify GetResultListbyParticipant The documentation provided on the web-services from QM was GOOD...how they worked with SAP was NOT. The QM documentation did not mention the use of SAP s XI tool anywhere This is only part of the story 10

12 If coming from a TEM Environment, DO NOT underestimate the complexity of data conversion Volume of Data needing to be Migrated Data Clean-up Be sure your Implementation Partner fully understands your legacy environment and provides: Strong working knowledge of LSO IMG Strong Portal customization skills Strong SAP XI Integration knowledge SAP Learning & Instructor Portal will most likely require customization in order to present your data Implementation of SAP XI is NOT a trivial undertaking SAP XI is it s own platform, needing Basis support Become familiar with the QM Test Harness and SAP XI communication tools when working on integration Consider having QM create an exam bank transfer program QM migration may require you to touch each question 12
