2 INTELLIGENT BUSINESS: THE NEW GENERATION OF BPM ABOUT THIS SEMINAR There is no doubt that Business Performance Management (BPM) is becoming fundamental to building, growing and managing a successful Business. This concept is based upon the principle that improvements in Performance can only be delivered if Performance is measured in specific Business areas and related to strategic Business objectives and targets. Various popular BPM methodologies now exist to help formalise how we approach Performance Management typically at strategic levels e.g. the Balanced Scorecard methodology, the Six Sigma Methodology, Total Quality Management (TQM), Baldridge, etc. While these methodologies are becoming familiar to executives at strategic levels, BPM could be more effective, if everyone in the Enterprise could participate so that Performance is managed at both strategic and operational levels. Some would argue that BPM is a Business Intelligence (BI) problem and to date, much of the software aimed at supporting BPM has come from BI vendors. These so called Corporate/Enterprise/Strategic Performance Management (CPM/EPM/SPM) software technology products are however limited in that they are often standalone systems with their own database holding summary key Performance metrics data and in some cases data on objectives and objective owners. Yet if you talk to many executives their vision of BPM is a far cry from just a CPM Scorecard product with perhaps integrated budgeting, planning and reporting based on BI. Their vision is that BPM is a Process-Oriented problem requiring a solution that helps and guides everyone in the company to all contribute towards Business Performance. Methodologies like Six Sigma are process improvement based and yet not one of the so called CPM/EPM/SPM tools on the market has any integration with Business Process Management software. The BPM problem requires a lot more than CPM/EPM/SPM. It is a holistic problem that requires Business objectives to be set and for every person and every system in the Enterprise to be able to leverage the right intelligence in every Business process activity to guide them towards making their contribution to the overall Performance of the Business. BPM is therefore about building an Intelligent Business by integrating Business Intelligence right into Operational Business Processes to guide and drive intelligent decisions and actions in every day Business. A full BPM implementation therefore includes: CPM/EMP/SPM Scorecards and Dashboards Enterprise budgeting and planning Processes and BI both integrated with Scorecards and Dashboard software (not just BI) In-line analytics for on-demand BI, reports and analyses available in operations BI Web Services to integrate BI into Operational Business Processes Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) to monitor Business Process events to detect exceptions and opportunities On-demand and event driven data integration to integrate historic and operational data for analysis Data Mining services for automatic analysis Reporting services for on-demand and event driven reporting Rules engines to make automatic decisions and take automatic actions Automated alerts Live recommendations Guided analytics Dynamically guided intelligent processes Activity based costing to monitor and measure the cost of operating This new two-day seminar is intended for Business Sponsors, Data Warehousing Managers, IT Architects who have already built a Data Warehousing system and now need to empower Employees, Business Partners, Suppliers and Customers by exploiting actionable Business Intelligence (BI) in every Business Process activity as part of full blown active Business Performance Management programme. It provides a roadmap and methodology to creating the Right-Time Intelligent Enterprise by using methodologies and new technologies to manage a Business at both strategic and operational levels. It looks at how Operational Performance Monitoring technologies like BAM, in-line actionable analytics, alerts, recommendations and actions can be integrated with Operational Business Processes and linked to Strategic Performance Management technologies such as Scorecards and Dashboards as part of a top-to-bottom Enterprise Business Performance Management program. The seminar takes an in-depth look at the technologies and methodologies needed to build the Performance aware Intelligent Business and how BI integration can be applied in every day Business Process Operations. WHO SHOULD ATTEND This seminar is intended for Business and IT Professionals responsible for Information Delivery, Business Integration, Business Performance Management and leveraging Business Intelligence in operational environments. It assumes that you have already built a Data Warehousing system and are now looking to leverage it in everyday Business Operations.

5 DESIGNING AND BUILDING ENTERPRISE PORTALS ABOUT THIS SEMINAR Many Businesses are purely reliant on the ability of Business users and managers to be able to find, and access, all necessary job specific, Business content (information and applications), wherever it may be located on different systems, inside and outside, the Enterprise to do their jobs efficiently and effectively. However, most users are often unaware of valuable information. They spend hours filtering out irrelevant content and are often unable to exploit application functionality because the application is not available to their Business community. What they want is to personalise content to their individual roles and Business needs while becoming more productive by using common Business processes and common applications. Users require access to both structured and unstructured information, applications and collaborative tools, as well as common Business processes that span applications to help them be more effective in the workplace. In order to meet this need, companies are looking towards Portal technology to manage and integrate information and applications into a single user interface and provide the tools needed to collaborate with others both inside and outside the Enterprise. This two-day workshop introduces Portal technology and looks at how to design and deploy a Corporate Portal for internal Business use and an e-business Portal for external user access to Business content. WHO SHOULD ATTEND This seminar is intended for Business and IT Professionals involved in the design and the building of Corporate and e-business Portals.
