1 Driving Innovation in the Smart Car In the last decade, cars have evolved from just being connected to becoming smart. The car has become intelligent and, soon, autonomous cars will be able to think and act on behalf of the user. A car can inform the driver of the nearest gas station when fuel runs low or recognize the driver through a smart phone and automatically unlock the car. It can also connect and instruct several infrastructure facilities such as the home, parking lots, and toll booths. 2 Connected Car Gateway Over the years there has been an increase in consumer demand for safety, comfort, and efficiency in cars. Modern high-end cars feature connected infotainment, re-configurable digital clusters, Advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS), and heads-up display among other features. 3 Android IVI Solution Automobiles have evolved from having just mechanical parts to include electrical and more recently electronic parts.
