3 Business Requirements 3D Plant Design is continuously evolving due to changes in the way business is conducted in upstream and downstream activities. Benefits offered by enterprise level integration with schematic tools pushes 3D to do more in order to integrate with P&ID, Instrumentation, Electrical design systems. Trend towards modular construction pushes 3D design to do more in order to organize and present information that suits construction needs. In many cases these two requirements contradict with each other. Older 3D systems managed this with lots of manual effort through manual checks with P&ID and other upstream information or reorganization of 3D models to suit construction needs after the fact. Middle Tier handles the change propagation. For example inserting split will automatically split the pipe into two parts, create welds, adjust relationships such as hanger/support. 11 Custom COG Report based on WBS Grouping Report uses customized label based on S3D API. Weight & COG Information is stored in the model for each part Piping Components COG information comes from catalog. Pipes - COG information calculated based on information in catalog. On the fly Instruments COG information entered by the user in the model Equipments COG information entered by the user in the model Electrical Tray COG information calculated based on information in catalog. HVAC Ducting - COG information calculated based on information in catalog. Structural Steel - COG information calculated based on information in catalog. Traffic Items (Handrail, Ladder, Stairs) COG Information calculated by the symbol. Label queries all physical parts associated with the WBS item and calculates Weight & COG for the group.
