15 Application Development 2011 Highlights Modified application deployment scripts (used in several legacy offices) to work within AECOM (still untested) Created automated process to utilize workstations for rendering when workstations are not in use (currently used in Minneapolis, DC, KC, and SF) Created user friendly GUI application (Project Browser) to switch mapped project drives between offices or within an office Initial development of PDD BIM SharePoint site on MyAECOM Page 15

16 GIS 2011 Challenges Sporadic expertise across the practice Identifying champions to lead in GIS development Little continuity in application Highlights Global GIS Framework is under development with the CTO Group (PDD is participating) Successful cross-sharing of data using GIS and Revit on a project for the Denver International Airport project. 17 Mission Purpose The Practice Technology Group will provide support and services specific to A&E/D+P+E in the areas of Application Development, BIM, CAD, Specifications, Visualization, and GIS. These areas of expertise overlap to provide an integrated and consistent means of supporting PDD market sectors, disciplines, and geographies. The Practice Technology Group will also work with Corporate IT (CoE, Infrastructure, Site Support Services, etc.) and the CTO to provide solutions that align with the overall goals, policies, and strategies of AECOM. The mission can best be summed up in the following manner: People The Practice Technology Group will identify and leverage people having technical expertise within the practice, foster knowledge sharing across user groups, and implement staff development strategies in areas of need in order to inspire the AECOM work force to utilize the available technology in the most appropriate and meaningful way. 22 Summary Practice Technology within PDD has been in place informally for the past months and has gained momentum with the inception of the Architectural Leadership Council (June of 2010). The need to increase efficiency in the areas of BIM, CAD, Specifications, Visualization, and Application Development within PDD are driven by challenging economic times and stiff competition. Adopting Practice Technology as a structured PDD group creates an organizational unit capable of reducing redundancy, automating processes, advancing standards, leveraging assets (digital & other), and ultimately maximizing profitability. The mantra of One AECOM is demonstrated in the overarching philosophy of the Practice Technology concept, which provides services and support to PDD worldwide by integrating practice & technology to provide a seamless delivery of products and services to our customers.
