Research will be presented on the value of different products available to the sports field managers and when and why certain products work more effectively. The presentation will cover why it is important to remove the overseeded 3

4 4 grass chemically vs. allowing the overseeded grass to naturally fade out and why it can be harmful to the proper development of the base turf. 1. understand the development process of the Bermudagrass from a turfgrass physiological standpoint. 2. When and how the removal process is completed 3. Understand the differences between the different herbicides so the grounds manager can properly select which material will fit best into his/her program. lecture using power point. Research will be presented to support the presentation Title: Turf conversion to Bermudagrass without pausing the games Format: Concurrent Session (1-1.5 hr) Level: Advanced Audience: Warm Season and Transition Pro STM The presentation is a case study about the turf conversion from cool season to warm season, in Italy with a low chemicals legislation, comparing different maintenance programs. The presentation is a case study about the turf conversion from cool season to warm season, in Italy with a low chemicals legislation, comparing different maintenance programs. The turf conversion have taken place at Olgiata Golf Club in Rome from 2010 to The trial begun in 2010, comparing 6 different theses. Italian legislation allow few chemicals compared to US (Sulfunilurea, Revolver for instance, is not allowed on turf) so the trial wanted to study the soil/turf preparation practices that better facilitate the Bermuda grass establishment. The trial have taken place at Olgiata Golf Club in Rome ( N, E ) because Club Members are discerning guests and consequently they ask for high level turf. The Patriot Bermuda was established using small potted plants to ensure the plants identity and maturity. Six ground preparation theses have been compared: 0) No treatments control; 1) trinexapac 25%, 1/kg/ha 2) trinexapac 25%, 2 kg/ha 3) trinexapac 25%, 1 kg/ha + further treatments every 21 days at 120 g/ha 4) Glyfocoll (gliphosate 42%),15 lt/ha 5) Glyfocoll (gliphosate al 42%), 100 ml/ha 6) Glyfocoll (gliphosate al 42%) ad un dosaggio di 15 lt/ha + colorante in post impianto The trial has been conducted on randomized plots with 3 replications. 4

5 5 Three day prior the trial begun the plots have been sprayed with Pendimethalin 45 % at 3 lt/ha. During the evaluation period we collected the agronomical data and we surveyed the players. The presentation has two main objectives; the first one is to show alternative maintenance programs based on mechanical and agronomical solution (low chem) and the second one is to open a debate on organic maintenance programs as an added value to the sports facility. PP Title: European Renovation Methods - The talk will be light but informative for all levels of Sports Turf Managers Audience: all Using extensive knowledge gained from all ranges of sports facilities across Europe, the presentation will outline the unique renovation practices that are used extensively in Europe, and highlight why and where it is gathering interest and momentum in the USA. Moving on from my previous talks about Manchester United and Real Madrid Football Clubs. I will show a much broader spectrum of European renovation at both professional and lower league facilities showing the success and failures they have encountered. 1. To gain an understanding of a tried and practiced method of renovation. 2. To see the benefits of an economically proven method that offers extended play and durability. 3. How the European growing-in methods evolved and moved into practice in the USA. Light hearted but a confident delivery using interesting examples from some of the biggest sporting venues in the World, and with testimonials from leading groundsmen. I will use PowerPoint to deliver the presentation. Title: Turf Renovations - What Works In the North Format: Can fit to conference needs Audience: Cool Season STM 5
